WordPress Designer/Developer Needed to Modernize Garden Club Website and Add Member Login

We are seeking an experienced WordPress designer/developer to refresh and modernize the website for a local nonprofit garden club. The existing website is functional and contains a significant amount of content, but the overall design, organization, mobile experience, and members-only access system need improvement. We are not necessarily looking for a complete rebuild. We would like someone who can evaluate the existing WordPress site, recommend the best approach, and make thoughtful updates that improve its appearance, usability, organization, and security. Primary responsibilities * Refresh the overall design and layout to create a cleaner, more modern, and cohesive look * Improve page formatting, spacing, typography, buttons, images, and other visual elements * Review and reorganize the navigation so information is easier to find * Update the layout of existing pages without substantially changing approved content * Improve mobile and tablet formatting * Ensure fonts, colors, buttons, headings, and other design elements are consistent throughout the site * Identify outdated, duplicated, or poorly organized pages and recommend improvements * Make the website easy for club volunteers to update after the project is completed Members-only login system The website currently uses a shared password to protect members-only pages. We would like to replace this with a more secure, user-based login system. The selected developer should be able to: * Create individual user accounts for club members * Restrict selected pages and content to logged-in members * Provide a simple and professional login page * Allow members to securely reset forgotten passwords * Create an easy process for administrators to add, remove, or update members * Ensure former members can have their access promptly removed * Migrate the existing password-protected content into the new members-only area * Recommend an appropriate WordPress membership or access-control solution * Configure the system using appropriate WordPress security practices * Keep the login and account-management process simple for members, many of whom are not highly technical We do not need a paid-membership, subscription, or dues-processing system. The goal is simply to provide secure access to private club information for approved members. The members-only area may include a member directory, club documents, meeting information, announcements, educational resources, forms, and other internal materials. Project expectations This is a one-time website update and setup project. After the work is completed, club volunteers will maintain the website and manage member accounts. We are not looking for an ongoing maintenance agreement, monthly support plan, subscription-based service, or solution that creates recurring costs. Please recommend tools that can be maintained internally and, whenever possible, do not require ongoing paid licenses. Any necessary one-time costs should be clearly disclosed in the proposal before work begins. Ideal candidate We are looking for someone who: * Has strong WordPress design and development experience * Has experience creating user login systems and members-only content areas * Understands WordPress roles, permissions, access control, password security, updates, backups, and plugin security * Has examples of modern WordPress websites they have redesigned or refreshed * Is comfortable improving an existing website rather than automatically rebuilding it * Understands responsive design and mobile optimization * Can communicate clearly and explain recommendations to nontechnical users * Pays close attention to formatting, usability, and visual consistency * Can preserve existing content while improving how it is organized and presented * Will avoid unnecessary plugins, overly complicated systems, and solutions that are difficult for volunteers to maintain Please include in your proposal 1.
