Senior Full-Stack Product Engineer to Own an Existing GenAI audio first Language-Learning Platform

Buget: $15.0 - $50.0 HOURLY / FULL_TIME ⭐ 0.00 (0) Belgium

project-delivery, product-management, web-programming, react-js, node.js

The platform includes on demand generated audio episodes served as HLS-streams, vocabulary-based content generation, interactive transcripts, public and personal streams, user profiles. I now want to spend more of my time on customer research, distribution, partnerships, and the commercial side of the business. I am looking for a senior engineer who can gradually take ownership of the technical side of the product. This is not a greenfield build and I am not looking for someone who only waits for precisely specified tickets. I need someone who can understand an existing product and codebase, identify what matters, make sensible technical decisions, and turn business priorities into reliable releases. ## What you would eventually own * The existing frontend and backend applications * The AI content and audio-generation pipelines * Authentication, user data, storage, and background processing * Deployment, monitoring, error handling, backups, and production reliability * Technical cost control, particularly around generated content and external APIs * Bug fixes, maintenance, and gradual architectural improvements * Development of new product features based on user feedback * Identifying technical risks before they become business problems You would not be expected to rewrite everything or introduce an elaborate architecture. I value simple systems, practical decisions, and maintaining the ability to ship quickly. ## Initial paid engagement The first phase would be a technical takeover and product audit. I would expect you to: 1. Get the existing system running and understand how its major components fit together 2. Review the codebase, infrastructure, deployment process, and external dependencies 3. Identify the most important reliability, security, maintainability, and cost risks 4. Improve any missing documentation or operational procedures 5. Propose a practical roadmap for the next one to three months 6. Ship at least one meaningful fix or improvement so we can evaluate how we work together If that goes well, I would like this to become an ongoing part-time relationship in which you act as the primary technical owner of the product. ## Who I am looking for You are likely a good fit if you: * Have independently owned a production SaaS product or a substantial part of one * Are comfortable inheriting and improving a codebase you did not originally write * Can work across frontend, backend, databases, infrastructure, and external APIs * Have experience with AI-powered products, asynchronous processing, or audio/media pipelines * Understand production concerns such as monitoring, retries, rate limits, security, and cost control * Prefer making incremental improvements over proposing an immediate rewrite * Can work autonomously and communicate when requirements or priorities are unclear Experience with language-learning products, text-to-speech, LLM APIs, subscriptions, or consumer SaaS would be useful, but is not mandatory. ## Please answer these questions 1. Tell me about a production product or codebase you inherited rather than built from scratch. What condition was it in, and what did you change? 2. What areas could you personally own, and where would you expect to involve another specialist? 3. What is your availability for an initial takeover phase and a possible ongoing part-time role? Generic agency introductions and lists of unrelated projects are unlikely to receive a response.
