Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) Developer

We're a growing custom apparel and promotional products company running our online store on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). We're looking for an experienced Adobe Commerce developer to take ownership of our platform — maintaining and improving a customized codebase, building new features, and managing third-party integrations. We're an AI-first team. We expect this role to use AI agent orchestration (e.g., Claude Code or similar tools) to plan, scaffold, and write the majority of the code — not as an occasional aid, but as the primary way work gets done. You'll still own the architecture decisions, code review, and quality bar; the expectation is that you're directing AI agents to execute efficiently rather than hand-writing everything line by line. What you'll do: Own day-to-day platform maintenance: patches, upgrades, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting Maintain and extend custom modules, themes, and third-party extensions Review and refactor existing custom code, improving structure and documentation over time Manage integrations with external systems (ERP, fulfillment, payment gateways, APIs) Improve deployment workflows and environment hygiene (staging/production) Write clean, well-documented code and follow good Git practices (PR reviews, branching) Communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders on scope, timelines, and tradeoffs Required skills & experience: 3+ years hands-on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) development — custom modules, plugins/observers, layout XML, EAV model Strong PHP (7.4+/8.x) with solid understanding of Magento 2 architecture and dependency injection Experience working with an existing/legacy Magento codebase (not just greenfield builds) Experience integrating Magento with external systems via REST/SOAP APIs Working knowledge of MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch in a Magento context Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day oversight Practical experience using AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or agent-based workflows) to plan and implement real production code — not just autocomplete usage Nice to have (not required): Experience with Adobe Commerce Cloud (ece-tools, cloud deployments) Apache NiFi or similar data pipeline tools (can be learned on the job) GA4 / GTM / analytics integration experience Headless or PWA Commerce experience B2B e-commerce experience To apply: Please include a brief note describing a Magento 2 codebase you've worked on, your role, and one example of a customization or integration you built.
