Engineering Manager (Hands-on) – AI-First SaaS Platform Location: Remote (Canada & USA) Employment Type: Full-Time Start Date: Early August 2026 Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (CTO) About the Company Our client is a fast-growing Canadian SaaS company specializing in landing page creation and conversion optimization. As part of an AI-first transformation, the engineering organization is modernizing its flagship platform while building next-generation AI-powered capabilities. This is an opportunity to lead a high-performing engineering team while remaining hands-on in product development. About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Manager who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills. This is a hands-on Player-Coach role, where approximately 30–40% of your time will be spent coding, reviewing code, pairing with engineers, and contributing to feature delivery, while the remaining time is dedicated to technical leadership, mentoring, planning, and delivery execution. You will report directly to the CTO and lead a team of approximately seven engineers across two parallel product streams: Legacy Landing Page Builder AI Builder Platform Key Responsibilities -Lead and mentor a cross-functional engineering team of approximately 7 developers. -Unify multiple engineering workstreams into a single, well-organized delivery team. -Drive Agile/Scrum best practices including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and delivery predictability. -Balance ongoing maintenance of the legacy platform while leading development of the new AI-powered Builder. -Spend 30–40% of your time contributing directly through coding, code reviews, architecture discussions, and pair programming. -Lead adoption of AI-powered and agentic engineering workflows across the team. -Collaborate closely with the CTO, VP of Product, Engineering Managers, and AI/ML leadership. -Guide technical decision-making and influence engineering roadmaps. -Mentor senior engineers and help develop future technical leaders. -Manage hybrid engineering teams consisting of internal employees and embedded vendor developers. -Ensure smooth knowledge transfer, documentation, onboarding, and vendor offboarding. -Maintain engineering excellence through strong CI/CD, testing, and code quality practices. -Participate in security, compliance, and production readiness activities. Required Experience -5–8 years of professional software engineering experience. -3+ years managing engineering teams of 8+ members in a SaaS environment. -Proven experience leading legacy-to-modern product migrations. -Experience managing multiple parallel engineering workstreams. -Demonstrated success delivering AI-powered or agentic features into production. -Experience managing hybrid teams consisting of employees, contractors, and vendor engineers. -Strong Agile/Scrum delivery experience. -Experience partnering with executive leadership and product teams.
