Sr. Backend Developer (Django) needed for audit and review of payment/auth integrations

------------------------------ About the Project We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend / Distributed Systems Developer to perform a comprehensive audit and code review of our billing and accounts integrations. ------------------------------ Our goal is to ensure our architecture is robust, secure, and optimized for growth. We have a strong preference for a collaborative review process (pairing up, discussing architectural decisions, etc.), but we are also completely open to an independent expert who prefers to audit the codebase solo and present a comprehensive report. ------------------------------ Our Tech Stack & Architecture Our current system is built on: Monolith: Django (hosted on DigitalOcean with a DO Managed Database Cluster and Redis/Cache). Payments: Stripe integration via the official stripe-python SDK. Authentication: PropelAuth integrated via OAuth (stateful, no JWTs). ------------------------------ Scope of Work You will be auditing two specific Django apps within our codebase. Your deliverables will include: Code Review: A deep dive into our Python/Django code for the Stripe and PropelAuth integrations to identify potential edge cases, security vulnerabilities, or performance bottlenecks. Architectural Audit Report: An assessment of how our monolith interacts with these external third-party services, focusing on reliability, error handling, and state synchronization. Actionable Recommendations: Clear, prioritized steps to improve or refactor the integrations. ------------------------------ Required Qualifications Senior-level Python & Django Expertise: You know Django inside and out (ORM optimization, middleware, signal hazards, etc.). Distributed Systems Experience: Proven experience dealing with the fallibility of distributed systems (e.g., handling network partitions, race conditions, webhook failures, and idempotent API requests). Payment Integration Mastery: Deep hands-on experience with Stripe (managing subscriptions, handling failed payments, webhooks, and sync states). Modern Auth Experience: Familiarity with third-party auth providers (ideally PropelAuth or similar OAuth/SSO-based flows).
