I’m looking for a virtual assistant who can remotely control my Mac while I guide you live by voice, tell you what to click, and dictate what to type.
The work includes tasks such as writing emails, using ChatGPT, working in Excel, and doing online research. We will use Zoom for remote access during live sessions. At times, I may also give you independent tasks, such as research or editing files.
This role fits someone who is comfortable working in real time, can type quickly and accurately, and is reliable when handling varied computer-based tasks.
Key requirements:
You can type fast and accurately enough to keep up with normal speaking speed during live dictation
You are comfortable using or learning to use a Mac
You are usually available during 11:00-19:00 CEST and can often help on short notice
You can do research on your own
You are comfortable working on some Swedish-language webpages with my guidance. You do not need to understand Swedish
You communicate clearly in spoken and written English
Bonus:
Interest in technology
Basic knowledge of programming, for example Python
Ability to troubleshoot common technical issues, including websites and Mac-related problems
You are a good fit if you:
Keep your promises, including deadlines
Ask when something is unclear
Work carefully and thoroughly
Suggest improvements when you see a better way
Are honest about your strengths and weaknesses
The workload will be around 6 hours per week on average, but it may vary depending on my workload. If the collaboration works well, there may be more opportunities in the future. I may also sometimes work with more than one assistant, depending on task type and availability.
Cover letter instructions:
There are two things I'd like you to do in your cover letter. One is to take a quick typing test, and the other is to record your English so that I know I will understand your dialect. These two things should not take longer than 15 minutes to do. For everyone who has a score above 50 WPM and 90% accuracy and a dialect that is quite easy to understand, will have very good chances to get to the final interview. If you don't send these things in your application, I will most likely not read it. Nothing else is needed for the application. You can leave the rest of the cover letter empty if you wish.
1. Record a short voice sample, around 30 seconds, where you speak in English about anything you desire.
2. Do a short online dictation test:
a. Go to: https://typemasterai.com/dictation-mode?mode=challenge
b. Set the number of sentences to 4, and keep all other settings at their default values
c. When you are done with the test, take a screenshot of the results
3. On the very first line of your cover letter, write the following: "TEST RESULT", and then your words per minute, and your accuracy score. Also attach the screenshot of the dictation test results, and either a link or attachment of the voice sample.
Please note, if you advance to the final interview, you will do the same dictation test again live.
