Job Title: Node.js Developer Location: Remote Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Node.js Developer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the central database, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the frontend. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers to integrate user-facing elements with robust backend infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Software Architecture and Development: Design, build, and maintain highly scalable and robust server-side applications utilizing Node.js and frameworks such as Express.js or NestJS. Architect and implement scalable microservices capable of handling complex business logic and large volumes of concurrent data traffic. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient JavaScript or TypeScript code adhering to industry best practices and internal coding standards. Refactor existing codebases to enhance performance, elevate security measures, and improve overall system reliability. Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation detailing API endpoints, system architecture, and integration workflows. API Design and System Integration: Develop, document, and maintain secure RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints for web and mobile applications. Integrate multiple disparate data sources and third-party APIs into a single, cohesive, and highly functioning system. Implement secure authentication and authorization protocols utilizing JSON Web Tokens, OAuth, or similar security standards. Design asynchronous processes and background worker queues using tools like Redis or RabbitMQ to manage heavy computational tasks and optimize response times. Database Management and Optimization: Design scalable database schemas for both relational databases such as PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB. Write optimized queries and manage complex data interactions to ensure minimal latency and maximum availability. Monitor application performance continuously, identify memory leaks within the Node.js environment, and execute necessary profiling and optimization strategies. Collaboration and Quality Assurance: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, product managers, and quality assurance specialists to deliver comprehensive software solutions. Participate actively in the entire software development lifecycle, from initial requirement analysis and system design to production deployment. Conduct rigorous peer code reviews to maintain high code quality and ensure strict adherence to architectural standards. Write extensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests utilizing frameworks such as Jest, Mocha, or Chai to guarantee system stability and minimize production defects. Requirements & Qualifications Core Technical Competencies: A minimum of three to five years of proven professional experience in backend software development heavily focused on Node.js. Exceptional proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, demonstrating a profound understanding of modern ECMAScript features and functional programming principles. In-depth knowledge of Node.js architecture, the V8 engine, the event loop, and asynchronous programming models. Extensive hands-on experience with modern Node.js web frameworks, specifically Express.js, NestJS, Fastify, or Koa. Demonstrated expertise in designing and interacting with databases, particularly MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL, alongside utilizing relevant Object-Relational Mapping or Object-Document Mapping libraries like Prisma, TypeORM, or Mongoose. Advanced proficiency with distributed version control systems, specifically Git, encompassing branching strategies, merge conflict resolution, and collaborative workflows on platforms like GitHub or GitLab. Analytical and Methodological Skills: Solid understanding of modern software design principles, microservices architectures, and REST API design standards. Thorough understanding of security compliance, data protection principles, and common vulnerability mitigation techniques such as preventing SQL injection and Cross-Site Scripting. Experience working within Agile software development methodologies and successfully utilizing project management tools such as Jira to track progress. Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving capabilities, paired with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Nice to Have Prior exposure to cloud computing environments, specifically Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including deploying scalable applications. Practical experience with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms, notably Docker and Kubernetes, to facilitate seamless deployments. Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies, utilizing tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI to automate testing and release pipelines. Practical knowledge of serverless computing architectures and deploying functions as a service. A foundational understanding of modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular to facilitate smoother API integration and communication with frontend teams.
