The whistle has blown, and we’re live! Game On Here is now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Our app helps soccer fans find nearby bars, pubs, and restaurants showing the match they want to watch, with the sound on and other supporters around. The first half went well. Now we’re looking for a sharp developer to join the squad for the second half.
What you’ll work on:
* Admin website features (your first few weeks): building out the Next.js admin site our team uses to manage venues, matches, showings, and users.
* Mobile app enhancements: new features and fixes in our Expo Router / React Native app.
* Shipping: getting builds through review and into the App Store and Google Play.
Our stack
* Website: Next.js 16, React 19, Tailwind CSS 4, TypeScript, hosted on Vercel
* Mobile: Expo Router / React Native (TypeScript)
* Backend: Supabase (Postgres + PostGIS, Auth, Realtime, Storage)
* Code: GitHub (branches, pull requests, code review, our version of VAR)
The engagement
* About 20 hours per week
* Roughly a two-month engagement, starting within the next two weeks
* Likely extension and/or ongoing ad hoc hours afterward
* Fully remote, from anywhere, as long as you have solid overlap with US business hours
* A few video calls per week; async the rest of the time
About that rate range: Developers with an extensive, proven work history will be considered for the top of the range. But if you’re an up-and-coming developer who is talented, proficient, and eager to prove it, we want to hear from you too. Show us what you can do.
You’ll be a great fit if you:
* Are fluent in written and spoken English
* Sweat the details (offsides by an inch is still offsides)
* Have personally submitted at least one app to the App Store and Google Play
* Write clean, documented code and are comfortable working through GitHub pull requests
* Can work independently, communicate clearly, and flag problems early
Bonus points for:
* Supabase RLS, Edge Functions, or PostGIS experience
* Expo EAS Build, EAS Submit, or push notifications
* Being a soccer fan (not required, but you’ll understand why “sound on” matters)
How to apply
Submit a proposal here on Upwork that includes a short letter of interest explaining why you’re the best person for this role. Please also include:
1. Store links to app(s) you’ve published, and your role in getting them there
2. Your GitHub profile or relevant portfolio work
3. Your hourly rate within our range and your weekly availability
Read this part carefully. It’s how we know you made it to the final whistle. In one or two sentences, tell us about a time you nutmegged a bug: got past a stubborn technical problem by going somewhere nobody expected. (The soccer kind of nutmeg. Not the spice.) Then make the word nutmeg, in lowercase, the very last word of your proposal, after your name.
Proposals that skip this step won’t make the squad.
