Independent Full-Stack Engineer (React + Django) | 5+ Years | Production Debugging

We’re an early-childhood ed-tech company with a live web product used by 50+ paying schools across 4 markets. We need a hands-on engineer to fix production bugs and build features in our React/Django codebase with minimal supervision. Individual freelancers only Our interview includes a live code exercise, and the person who takes it must be the person writing the code. Agencies and team leads who delegate implementation won’t be considered. What you’ll work on • Fixing and improving subscription, credit and payment workflows • Building features for schools with multiple branches • Developing new features that help teachers act on assessment results Must-haves • 5+ years building and maintaining production web applications • Strong production Django experience, including ORM, DRF, migrations and signals. Node.js-only backends won’t be a fit • Production React experience • Root-cause debugging across frontend, backend, APIs and relational databases • Able to take requirements through implementation, testing and release with minimal hand-holding • Clear written English: estimates up front, concise progress updates, early flags when scope changes • Proficient with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot or similar, with strong independent review and testing Nice to have: TypeScript, CI/CD, AWS, payment integrations Engagement • Part-time freelance, around 10 hours/week to start, with scope to grow • USD 25–35/hour, depending on experience • Some overlap with Singapore (UTC+8) preferred To apply 1.
