Oracle GoldenGate / ODI Upgrade Consultant — Contract Summary Boutique Oracle consulting firm (ISO 27001 / 9001 / CMMC) running a multi-project OCI program for a major higher-education client. This role owns one of those projects end-to-end: upgrading the GoldenGate replication and ODI stack behind the client's enterprise analytics platform — assessed, rehearsed in non-prod, cut over in approved change windows, and stabilized, all inside eight weeks. Late-September 2026 start. Fixed cutover windows. Real budget. We need a senior consultant who can execute the upgrades hands-on AND own the change governance around them — rollback plans, CAB packages, runbooks, knowledge transfer. This is not a junior DBA role — it's a builder-plus-cutover-owner role for someone comfortable doing both in the same week. What You'll Actually Do Hands-on across two tracks: Upgrade Execution 🔹 Build the inventory and version/compatibility matrix across GoldenGate, ODI, and source/target databases; recommend the target state (in-place upgrade vs. OCI GoldenGate managed service / ODI Marketplace) 🔹 Execute non-prod GoldenGate upgrades — extract/replicat migration, trail and checkpoint continuity, lag baselining 🔹 Execute ODI upgrades — master/work repository upgrade, agent topology (standalone / colocated / JEE), scenario and load-plan regression 🔹 Regression-test replication paths and ETL jobs end-to-end before anything touches production 🔹 Execute production cutover inside approved change windows; run parallel validation against the pre-upgrade baseline 🔹 Tune post-upgrade performance — replication lag, ETL runtimes, agent sizing Cutover Governance & Knowledge Transfer 🔹 Author the upgrade runbook and the rollback plan — and rehearse the rollback in non-prod before cutover night 🔹 Prepare and present CAB / change-management packages for every window 🔹 Define go/no-go criteria, the monitoring plan, and hypercare exit criteria 🔹 Document the upgraded environment: topology, parameter deltas, operational runbooks 🔹 Deliver hands-on knowledge transfer to client DBA and integration teams 🔹 Work alongside our OCI security architect — these upgrades land inside a hardened tenancy and must stay compliant with its controls Required ✅ 6+ years Oracle data integration · 3+ years GoldenGate production administration ✅ At least one major GoldenGate version upgrade or migration executed end-to-end in production (19c / 21c / 23ai era) ✅ ODI repository and agent upgrade experience, including scenario / load-plan regression ✅ OCI-hosted Oracle database experience (Base DB, ExaCS, or Autonomous) and working comfort with OCI networking — NSGs, private endpoints ✅ Cutover discipline — rollback plans you've actually rehearsed, change windows you've actually hit ✅ Strong written communication — runbooks, CAB packages, KT materials Strong Pluses ⭐ Classic-to-Microservices GoldenGate architecture migrations ⭐ OCI GoldenGate managed service or ODI Marketplace deployments ⭐ Oracle GoldenGate Certified Implementation Specialist (or equivalent Oracle certifications) ⭐ Analytics platform integration experience — OAC or similar BI stacks fed by ODI ⭐ Automation: OCI CLI, Terraform, Python or shell for upgrade tooling ⭐ Higher education or public sector background To Apply Send the following: Your resume (PDF) Your LinkedIn profile URL Your hourly rate One brief paragraph: a GoldenGate or ODI upgrade you executed end-to-end — what was the environment, how did you de-risk the cutover, and what was the outcome?
