Platform Architect / Technical Lead

We are looking for a technical leader who will take full ownership of the architecture and the integrated platform. This is not a strategy-only CTO role. You will work hands-on with the architecture, repositories, AWS, databases, APIs, and deployment, make technical decisions, and write critical code yourself when needed. The goal is to complete the existing system and take it to production, not to rebuild it from scratch. You will work in a small team alongside the client’s CEO and AI/ML engineer, and coordinate additional backend, frontend, and DevOps specialists as needed. Responsibilities Architecture - Take over the system from the outgoing tech lead: architecture, repositories, AWS infrastructure, databases, and deployment - Own the platform architecture and evolve it without unnecessary redesign Data & AI - Integrate AI detection models into the production data processing pipeline - Complete the ingestion and processing of optical, SAR, and other data sources - Design PostgreSQL/PostGIS data schemas for imagery, detections, and analytics - Develop analytics capabilities: multi-source data fusion, anomaly detection, risk scoring, and alerting Backend & Infrastructure - Own AWS operations: deployment, containerization, orchestration, logging, and monitoring - Build secure backend services and APIs with authentication and RBAC - Connect the WebGIS dashboard to the backend and build end-to-end workflows from data to user interface Quality & Processes - Own testing, validation, and technical reporting - Maintain documentation, version control, and architecture decision records Requirements - Proven track record of delivering geospatial platforms (WebGIS, spatial data platforms) to production - 7+ years in software development, including several years as a tech lead, architect, or CTO at a - product or technology company - Hands-on mindset: you still write code and work with infrastructure yourself - Strong AWS experience: architecture, deployment, cloud operations - Python for backend services; experience integrating AI/ML inference into production - PostgreSQL/PostGIS and geospatial data modeling - REST APIs, GeoJSON, machine-to-machine interfaces - Production data ingestion and processing pipelines - Docker, CI/CD, reproducible environments - Logging, monitoring, and observability - Authentication, RBAC, and security-conscious development - Git, configuration, and release management - English at B2 level or higher Training detection models is not required, but you should understand production ML well enough to define, integrate, and validate model interfaces. Nice to have - Experience with Earth Observation and satellite data, especially optical and SAR pipelines - Experience with monitoring, situational awareness, or critical infrastructure protection projects - Sensor/data fusion, object tracking, temporal geospatial analytics - Experience building decision-support systems - Participation in ESA/EU or national space agency programs; understanding of TRL and verification & validation processes - Swedish language skills or experience working with Swedish partners
