Deployment Engineer for AI Cybersecurity Platform Job Overview We are seeking an experienced "Deployment Engineer" to support proof-of-concept deployments and production onboarding for an AI-enabled cybersecurity platform. You will connect the platform to real customer environments, configure integrations, onboard and normalise data sources, build workflows, tune AI agents and troubleshoot technical problems. This is a hands-on delivery role: you will be responsible for ensuring that each deployment works reliably. This is a remote position supporting customers and colleagues working on **US East Coast hours**. Applicants must be available for meaningful overlap during Eastern Time business hours. Key Responsibilities Integrations and Data Onboarding - Configure integrations with cloud platforms, identity providers, ticketing systems, collaboration tools, HR systems, vulnerability scanners and CI/CD pipelines. - Configure OAuth, service accounts, API credentials, webhooks and appropriately scoped access. - Onboard customer data and log sources from initial connection through to production. - Build and troubleshoot parsers, data transformations, normalisation and schema mappings. - Validate that data ingestion is accurate, complete and reliable. - Diagnose integration failures, including during customer screen-sharing sessions. ### Workflow Configuration - Build workflows for use cases such as: - Security alert triage - Vulnerability remediation - Configuration governance - Joiner, mover and leaver processes - CI/CD security controls - Compliance reporting - Configure security programme modules, including asset inventory, vulnerability management, identity hygiene, risk management, application security and SOC case management. - Test workflows carefully to ensure they produce meaningful results rather than unnecessary noise. AI Agent Configuration - Configure AI-agent behaviour, communication channels, approval controls and escalation rules. - Investigate incorrect or unexpected agent behaviour. - Correct configuration problems or produce clear defect reports for the engineering team. - Apply appropriate human-in-the-loop controls and security guardrails. ### Production Onboarding and Support - Configure customer tenants, access controls, organisational data ingestion and compliance mappings. - Implement role-based and attribute-based access controls. - Reproduce and diagnose customer-reported issues. - Resolve problems directly where possible or provide Engineering with a clean, reproducible defect report. - Verify fixes and ensure issues are properly closed. Documentation and Reporting - Produce a reusable runbook for every deployment. - Record deployment hours, integrations, blockers and time to completion. - Distinguish between configuring existing functionality and developing customer-specific solutions. - Document product gaps, defects and areas requiring manual work. - Create clear handover notes so future deployments can be completed more efficiently. Required Experience - Four or more years in a hands-on technical role involving customer implementations, integrations, cloud engineering, DevOps, ETL, SIEM, XDR, SOAR or security automation. - Demonstrable experience onboarding customer data into a platform from initial configuration through to production. - Strong understanding of REST APIs, GraphQL, SCIM, webhooks and OAuth 2.0. - Experience configuring and debugging workflow-orchestration or automation platforms. - Ability to write scripts for integrations, data transformation and troubleshooting using Python or a comparable language. - Practical understanding of distributed-system concepts, including retries, rate limits, observability and eventual consistency. - Strong written English and the ability to produce clear technical documentation. Preferred Security Experience - Familiarity with SOC operations, SIEM/SOAR, alert triage and vulnerability-management processes. - Understanding of SAML, SCIM, MFA, RBAC, ABAC and privileged-access management. - Exposure to SAST, DAST, infrastructure-as-code scanning, secret detection and CI/CD security controls. - Awareness of cloud security posture management, configuration drift and security benchmarks. - Experience implementing at least one compliance framework, including control mapping and evidence collection. Preferred AI Experience - Practical exposure to LLM-enabled or agentic products. - Understanding of retrieval, guardrails, approval gates and human-in-the-loop controls. - Awareness of risks such as prompt injection, hallucination, tool-based data exfiltration and memory poisoning. The Right Candidate You will be comfortable: - Working independently from an incomplete or evolving technical brief. - Navigating customer environments that may be poorly documented or inconsistently configured. - Troubleshooting live under reasonable time pressure. - Identifying and reporting problems early. - Writing documentation without needing to be reminded. - Working collaboratively with customer-facing and engineering teams. - Supporting two or three concurrent proof-of-concept deployments. - Maintaining reliable overlap with US East Coast working hours. This is not primarily a sales role. You will participate in customer kick-offs and technical reviews, but you will not be responsible for commercial negotiations, sales conversion or managing the overall customer relationship. Engagement - Remote freelance contract through Upwork - Potential for a longer-term engagement - Availability during US Eastern Time business hours is required - Hours and working pattern will be agreed with the selected candidate How to Apply Please include: 1. A brief description of a customer environment you personally onboarded from start to finish. 2. The customer’s technology stack and integrations involved. 3. An explanation of something that failed during the deployment and how you diagnosed it. 4. An anonymised runbook, deployment guide or technical document you have written. 5. Your availability during US Eastern Time. 6. Your hourly rate and expected weekly availability. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an introductory interview and a practical technical exercise involving the diagnosis of a failed data integration.
