Role Summary:
The Chief of Staff will serve as a trusted strategic advisor and execution partner to the CEO, increasing the CEO’s effectiveness and ensuring the company’s most important priorities translate into sound decisions and meaningful results. This is a senior, highly cross-functional role for someone who combines strong business judgment, analytical and commercial thinking, executive influence, and disciplined execution. The Chief of Staff will build deep context across the business, synthesize complex information, help structure and evaluate important decisions, challenge assumptions constructively, and maintain visibility into and accountability for the CEO’s highest-priority initiatives. The Chief of Staff will work closely with leaders across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Operations, Customer Support, and other functions. This person will not replace the ownership of functional leaders. Instead, the Chief of Staff will help clarify priorities and ownership, surface risks and dependencies, improve executive decision-making, and directly lead selected initiatives that are particularly important, span multiple functions, or do not yet have a clear long-term owner.
The Chief of Staff will partner closely with the Head of Operations and other executive leaders, connecting strategic priorities, executive decision-making, and cross-functional execution across the organization. The Chief of Staff will support the CEO across BangBang Labs’ existing businesses and new venture initiatives. Initially, the role will be weighted toward the strategic priorities and performance of the studio’s primary operating business, with growing exposure to new-business evaluation, incubation, and portfolio-level decisions as the organization evolves. The ideal candidate is a commercially minded, analytically strong operator who is equally comfortable thinking strategically, working through detailed business questions, influencing senior leaders, and driving important work to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
CEO Partnership, Leverage & Decision Support
Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO on strategic, commercial, organizational, and operating decisions.
Help the CEO identify, evaluate, and prioritize the issues and opportunities that deserve the greatest attention.
Structure ambiguous or complex decisions by clarifying the core question, gathering relevant information, evaluating alternatives, identifying tradeoffs, and developing clear recommendations.
Synthesize information and perspectives from across the organization into concise, decision-ready analysis.
Develop an independent point of view and challenge the CEO’s or leadership team’s assumptions constructively when appropriate.
Prepare the CEO for important meetings, decisions, and discussions by ensuring the relevant context, analysis, risks, and unresolved questions are clear.
Monitor execution against company priorities and executive commitments, proactively surfacing risks, dependencies, and decisions requiring leadership attention.
Identify emerging risks, opportunities, organizational issues, and decisions that may not yet be receiving enough executive attention.
Represent the CEO in selected meetings and follow-up discussions within clearly defined authority.
Company Priorities, Leadership Alignment & Accountability
Translate the CEO’s strategic direction into a focused set of company priorities with clear objectives, owners, timelines, dependencies, and measures of success.
Help the leadership team make explicit tradeoffs when proposed priorities exceed available time, resources, or organizational capacity.
Maintain visibility into progress against company-level priorities and significant executive commitments.
Clarify ownership and decision rights when responsibilities or expected outcomes are ambiguous.
Identify stalled decisions, unresolved cross-functional dependencies, conflicting priorities, and execution risks before they become larger problems.
Work with executive and functional leaders to address barriers while reinforcing their accountability for execution within their areas.
Escalate significant issues to the CEO with clear context, options, and recommended next steps.
Strengthen alignment and information flow across functions without becoming the routine intermediary between department leaders.
Support clear communication of company priorities, significant decisions, and changes in direction throughout the organization.
Executive Operating System
Own and continuously improve the executive operating cadence, including leadership meetings, business reviews, quarterly planning, annual planning, and strategic working sessions.
Design executive meetings around decisions, problem-solving, accountability, and outcomes rather than primarily status reporting.
Develop executive meeting materials, document key decisions, and maintain clear records of decision rationale, ownership, action items, and expected outcomes.
Build systems that provide visibility into priorities, risks, commitments, and executive decisions.
Partner with Finance, Analytics, and functional leaders to develop executive dashboards that provide a reliable view of business performance and strategic progress.
Ensure leadership discussions are grounded in accurate information, consistent definitions, and the metrics most relevant to company objectives.
Improve the quality, consistency, and usefulness of the information reaching the CEO and executive team.
Support planning and resource-allocation processes across existing businesses and emerging ventures.
Cross-Functional Strategic Initiatives
Directly lead a limited number of high-priority, CEO-sponsored initiatives that cross functions, involve significant ambiguity, or do not yet have a clear long-term owner.
Convert broad strategic objectives into clear plans, workstreams, milestones, decision points, ownership, and success measures.
Coordinate leaders and teams across functions while maintaining clear accountability with the appropriate functional owners.
Drive execution by resolving blockers, managing dependencies, and accelerating decision-making across high-priority initiatives.
Develop business cases, implementation plans, executive recommendations, milestones, ownership structures, and stakeholder communications for major CEO-sponsored initiatives.
Incubate new initiatives, establish an effective operating model, and transition ongoing responsibility to the appropriate leader once the work is established.
Support initiatives that may include new-business incubation, product launches, pricing and monetization, analytics capabilities, AI implementation, organizational changes, strategic partnerships, vendor evaluations, or other CEO priorities.
Conduct post-initiative reviews to assess results, capture lessons, and improve future execution.
Business Performance, Strategic Analysis & Organizational Effectiveness
Develop a deep understanding of each business’s model, customer journey, growth drivers, economics, risks, and competitive environment.
Analyze business performance, commercial and financial metrics (including customer acquisition cost, conversion, retention, churn, lifetime value, recurring revenue, contribution margin, and other unit economics) to distinguish short-term fluctuations from structural opportunities, and translate insights into strategic recommendations, company priorities, and resource-allocation decisions.
Work across Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Operations, and Customer Support to identify the root causes of material performance gaps.
Challenge incomplete analyses, inconsistent definitions, unsupported assumptions, or conclusions not supported by evidence.
Support the evaluation of new products, markets, business models, investments, and venture opportunities.
Help the CEO assess organizational structure, leadership responsibilities, decision rights, and cross-functional handoffs as the company grows.
Identify situations in which unclear ownership, organizational design, leadership gaps, or competing incentives are limiting performance.
Recommend specific changes to strategy, priorities, ownership, resources, or the operating model based on business results and organizational needs.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Management, or a related field.
8+ years of progressive experience in strategy, finance, product, growth, business operations, general management, entrepreneurship, or a closely related business leadership discipline, with a track record of increasing responsibility and meaningful business impact.
Experience working directly with a CEO, founder, or senior executive team on major business decisions and company-wide priorities, including developing recommendations and helping shape key decisions.
Experience operating in a high-growth digital or technology-driven business, with meaningful exposure to consumer products, subscription and other recurring-revenue models, mobile apps, e-commerce, or performance-marketing-driven growth.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex, ambiguous, or incomplete information, develop an independent point of view, identify what matters most, and make clear, commercially grounded recommendations.
Strong analytical and financial fluency, including the ability to evaluate business performance, unit economics, business cases, assumptions, and strategic tradeoffs.
Strong execution discipline, with demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous initiatives, define clear ownership and milestones, manage cross-functional dependencies, and drive work to completion without requiring day-to-day CEO oversight.
Proven ability to influence, challenge, and build alignment among senior stakeholders without relying on direct management authority.
Experience partnering effectively across multiple functions, including Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Operations, and Customer Support, with the ability to build credibility across different functions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Scaled consumer subscription businesses, including recurring revenue, pricing, monetization, retention, and unit economics.
Performance-marketing-driven growth, including paid acquisition, conversion funnels, customer acquisition economics, and lifecycle marketing.
Consumer mobile apps, direct-to-consumer products, e-commerce, or other digital consumer businesses.
Product, growth, analytics, strategic finance, business strategy, or general management within a high-growth environment.
Working across both established operating businesses and zero-to-one products, new ventures, or early-stage initiatives.
Venture studio, multi-brand, holding company, or portfolio-business environments.
Incubating new businesses or transitioning early initiatives into durable operating teams.
Evaluating new products, markets, business models, strategic partnerships, or investment opportunities.
Experience with recurring billing, payments operations, or other complex monetization infrastructure.
Designing AI-enabled workflows or automations that go beyond standard individual productivity use.
