Senior Ecommerce & Systems Integration Development Team / Agency Magento 2 + React/.NET + Okta SSO + Enterprise Integrations Overview We are a digital commerce and technology agency looking for a small senior development team, boutique agency, or highly experienced technical lead with an established supporting team to take over and support an existing enterprise ecommerce and systems-integration environment. This is intended to become a long-term development partnership, not simply a one-project freelance engagement. Our immediate need involves an established enterprise client with multiple connected applications and websites using technologies including: Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce PHP React .NET / C# Okta SSO / Identity Management SQL REST APIs Third-party integrations Linux-hosted environments Git / GitHub The environment has been developed over several years by multiple internal and external teams. We are replacing members of the existing engineering team and need a partner capable of taking ownership of the codebase, understanding the existing architecture, stabilizing the environment, and supporting future development. We strongly prefer a small agency or established team that can provide multiple technical disciplines under a reasonable blended hourly rate. What We Need We are not looking for a large agency with layers of account management. We want access to a small, senior technical team that can function almost like an extension of our internal delivery organization. Ideally your team includes capabilities across: 1. Senior Solution Architect / Technical Lead Someone capable of understanding the complete ecosystem, including: Ecommerce Identity management Application architecture APIs Databases Third-party applications Authentication Infrastructure Deployment architecture This person should be able to participate directly in client meetings, technical discovery, estimation, architecture discussions, troubleshooting, and technical planning. They must also be technical enough to inspect code and assist engineers directly. 2. Senior Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce Developer We need strong experience with: Magento 2 Adobe Commerce PHP Composer Magento modules Magento extensions Magento configuration Magento APIs Custom integrations Authentication integrations Magento upgrades and patching Debugging existing Magento implementations Third-party Magento extensions Code quality / Magento coding standards Experience with SSO extensions such as MiniOrange or similar technologies is valuable. This person should be capable of inheriting an existing Magento implementation rather than requiring a greenfield project. 3. Senior React / .NET Developer The environment also includes applications using: React C# .NET 6+ REST APIs SQL Authentication middleware Environment configuration Backend integrations We need someone comfortable debugging an existing React + .NET application and integrating it with identity and external systems. 4. Okta / Identity Integration Experience This is extremely important. The current environment uses Okta as the central authentication platform across multiple applications. Your team should understand: Okta SSO SAML 2.0 OpenID Connect OAuth 2.0 Okta APIs User provisioning User migration Authentication flows Sessions Redirect URIs Application assignments Groups Roles Claims Custom user attributes Password management Identity lifecycle management Multi-application SSO Environment-specific Okta configuration Our future architecture will likely go beyond simple login federation. We need to increasingly treat the identity platform as a central source of truth for shared user information across multiple applications. That may require: Attribute synchronization User lifecycle synchronization APIs Webhooks Middleware Mapping between application databases Reconciliation processes Role synchronization Business-rule-driven provisioning Experience designing CIAM or enterprise identity architectures is a major advantage. Existing Environment The initial project involves several enterprise websites and applications. Some systems are operated by third-party vendors, meaning your team must be comfortable working collaboratively with outside development companies and integrating systems where direct code access may be limited. The Immediate Technical Challenge The environment already has SSO implemented across several applications. The next stage is more sophisticated. Currently, different applications can contain different pieces of information about the same user. The client wants to move toward a model where: Identity and shared user information can be managed centrally and synchronized across connected systems. For example: A user may belong to one organization or dealership and later move to another while retaining information and historical records associated with that individual. This requires thinking beyond authentication. We need engineers who understand: Identity resolution Unique user identifiers Data ownership Data synchronization Application-specific records Historical data Role changes Organization changes User migrations Conflict resolution System-of-record architecture You should be able to determine what belongs in Okta versus what should remain inside the individual application databases. Systems Integration Experience Your team should have strong experience integrating enterprise systems. We are interested in experience with: REST APIs GraphQL where applicable Webhooks Middleware Authentication SQL Data mapping Data migration Synchronization jobs Event-driven architecture Retry logic Logging Error handling Reconciliation API rate limits Environment configuration The ability to troubleshoot integrations built by someone else is particularly important. Existing Codebase Takeover This is not a greenfield engagement. Your first responsibility will be understanding what already exists. We will expect your technical lead to work with us through a structured transition that includes: Repository review Architecture review Environment review Codebase audit Existing SSO review Integration review Deployment review Documentation review Open issue review Technical-debt identification Risk assessment We need a team that is comfortable taking over projects developed by other engineers without immediately recommending that everything be rebuilt. QA & Automated Testing We are particularly interested in teams that can provide QA capability alongside development. The system involves authentication across multiple applications, so regression testing is important. We need the ability to test workflows such as: Login Logout Registration Password reset SSO between applications User provisioning Account updates Role changes Organization changes Session behavior Failed authentication Authorization Cross-system data synchronization Experience with automated testing using tools such as: Playwright Selenium Cypress is strongly preferred. DevOps / Infrastructure Your team does not necessarily need a full-time DevOps engineer, but you should have someone capable of supporting: Linux environments GitHub CI/CD Environment variables Deployment troubleshooting DNS SSL Application configuration Development / UAT / staging / production differences Log inspection Secrets/configuration issues A recurring problem in enterprise integrations is not the application code itself, but differences between environments. Your team must be comfortable diagnosing those problems. Client Communication At least one member of your team must have excellent English communication skills and be comfortable participating directly in enterprise client meetings. The technical lead should be capable of: Running technical discovery Asking intelligent questions Explaining architecture Providing estimates Identifying risk Presenting technical options Explaining tradeoffs Working with other vendors Reviewing requirements Creating technical documentation Translating business requirements into engineering requirements We do not want every technical conversation routed through a salesperson or account manager. We want access to the people actually making the technical decisions. Technical Estimation Your technical lead should be capable of reviewing a request and producing: Assumptions Technical approach Dependencies Risks Work breakdown Estimated hours Required skill sets Recommended sequencing Estimates must be defensible enough that we can incorporate them into client-facing scopes of work. Ideal Team Structure You do not need six full-time developers. A strong small agency may cover several responsibilities with the same senior people.
