Senior Interactive Kiosk - Full Stack Developer

We’re looking for a senior developer / creative technologist to help build an interactive digital experience for a real estate showroom environment. This is not a traditional website project. The application will run on large-format touchscreens and combine interactive UI, animation, proximity detection, audio, visual effects, data capture and automated session behavior. The developer should be capable of taking ownership of the technical implementation rather than waiting for detailed engineering instructions. - Core Technical Skills Frontend & Interactive UI JavaScript / TypeScript React HTML5 / CSS SVG and Canvas animation WebGL Responsive large-screen interfaces Touch and gesture handling Interactive animation and transitions Kiosk / Desktop Applications Windows kiosk deployment Electron and/or Chromium kiosk mode Fullscreen application environments Auto-start on system boot Crash/reboot recovery Session and state management Inactivity detection and automatic reset Long-running unattended applications Hardware & Sensors Webcam-based presence/motion detection PIR/proximity sensors USB/peripheral integration Touchscreen/display integration Connecting physical sensor events to application behavior Application Architecture Event-driven architecture State machines Interactive/game-style application logic Timers and scoring Multi-step user flows Duplicate input/event prevention Interrupted-session recovery Offline-first behavior where appropriate Backend & Data Node.js, Python or similar backend experience REST APIs PostgreSQL or comparable databases Lead/data capture CRM/API integrations Local storage and offline synchronization - Cloud Experience Required Strong practical experience with cloud infrastructure is required, preferably: AWS or Azure Cloud deployment and environment configuration Storage and database services API hosting Logging and monitoring Secure configuration/secrets management Automated deployment workflows The developer should understand when cloud services are useful and when an installation should continue operating locally without depending on internet connectivity. - AI-Assisted Development Strong ability to use modern AI development tools is required. We’re looking for someone who actively uses AI to improve development speed, debugging, prototyping, documentation and code quality while still understanding and reviewing the code being produced. Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar AI coding environments is valuable. AI should be used as an engineering accelerator, not as a replacement for engineering judgment. - Communication Requirements Fluent professional English is required. This role involves direct communication with a U.S.-based team, including non-technical stakeholders. You should be able to: Participate confidently in English video calls Understand requirements discussed conversationally Explain technical decisions in simple business language Ask good clarification questions Communicate risks or limitations clearly Provide concise written updates without requiring someone else to translate or rewrite them Strong spoken English is particularly important. - Working Hours / Availability Our team operates primarily in U.S. Eastern Time. You do not need to work full U.S. business hours, but you must have reliable overlap with the U.S. team and be available for meetings through approximately 5:00 PM ET when required. Experience handling the following is important: Unexpected user behavior Users abandoning sessions midway Repeated or rapid touchscreen input Multiple sensor events Temporary internet loss Automatic session reset Application recovery Long-duration operation Hardware/device reconnection Testing should include real-world usage scenarios rather than only browser-based functional testing. - What We're Looking For This role is best suited to someone who can operate as a senior engineer and technical problem solver , not simply complete assigned tickets. You should be able to receive a business requirement, identify missing technical details, recommend practical options and carry the implementation through deployment.
