Experience Level: Expert Job Type: Ongoing / Long-Term Hours: Part-time initially, with potential for increased hours Budget: Hourly, based on experience Job Description We operate two established, revenue-generating e-commerce websites (Magento 2 and WooCommerce) and are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on developer to help maintain, troubleshoot, optimize, and improve both websites. We are seeking an individual developer who personally performs the technical work, not an agency or someone who outsources development tasks. Our ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver who can independently diagnose complex issues, identify root causes, and implement reliable, long-term solutions. This is an ongoing opportunity with several projects ready to begin immediately. Magento Website     •    Magento Open Source 2.4.9     •    PHP 8.4     •    Google Cloud Platform     •    Nginx and Varnish     •    Redis and OpenSearch     •    MySQL     •    Porto theme and third-party extensions     •    Custom integrations and shipping modules WooCommerce Website     •    WordPress / WooCommerce     •    PHP and MySQL     •    Linux server environment     •    Customizations and third-party plugins     •    Shipping and API integrations Responsibilities Magento 2 Development & Maintenance     •    Troubleshoot and resolve Magento errors, including intermittent 502 errors and timeouts     •    Diagnose and optimize website performance     •    Maintain extensions, custom modules, and theme customizations     •    Apply, verify, and troubleshoot Magento security patches     •    Resolve checkout, shipping, and product catalog issues     •    Identify and resolve compatibility problems Linux Server Administration     •    Troubleshoot Nginx, PHP-FPM, Varnish, Redis, and OpenSearch     •    Investigate server logs, memory utilization, and performance bottlenecks     •    Optimize server configurations     •    Maintain server security and stability     •    Work confidently through SSH and the Linux command line WooCommerce Development     •    Troubleshoot WooCommerce plugins and integrations     •    Diagnose and resolve shipping API issues     •    Improve site performance and reliability     •    Maintain WordPress and WooCommerce compatibility General Responsibilities     •    Investigate problems independently and identify root causes     •    Test changes in staging before production deployment     •    Follow appropriate backup, version control, and rollback procedures     •    Document completed work and communicate progress clearly     •    Proactively identify potential technical issues and improvements Mandatory Requirements     •    5+ years of relevant professional development experience     •    Extensive hands-on Magento 2 experience     •    Strong PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and Linux skills     •    Experience with Nginx, PHP-FPM, Varnish, Redis, and OpenSearch     •    Ability to troubleshoot complex server and application performance issues     •    Experience working with production e-commerce websites     •    Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities     •    Excellent communication skills     •    Must personally perform the work; no subcontracting or delegation without prior approval     •    Must be comfortable participating in live screen-sharing sessions to troubleshoot problems, demonstrate work, and explain technical findings     •    Ability to provide clear, detailed progress updates and time tracking Preferred Qualifications     •    Experience with Google Cloud Platform     •    Experience with Magento performance optimization     •    Experience with Magento security patches and vulnerability remediation     •    WooCommerce development experience     •    UPS shipping API and freight/LTL integration experience     •    Familiarity with Git and structured deployment processes What We're Looking For We value developers who take ownership of technical problems rather than relying on temporary fixes.
