Junior Developer: Docker Test Environments for Open-Source Web Apps (Ongoing)

We’re building a library of ready-to-run test environments from popular open-source web apps, such as Grafana, Gitea and WordPress. For each app, you’ll get it running in Docker, explore it while recording its traffic, and package everything into a bundle we can start with one command. We give you a step-by-step guide for every part. For each app, you’ll: 1. Set up: run the app in Docker Compose at the exact version we specify, finish the first-run setup, and create the users listed in the guide (for example, an admin and a regular user). 2. Explore: with Burp Suite recording traffic, log in as each user and go through every page and feature, so every request the app makes is captured. We’ll show you how to use Burp, and no prior experience is needed. 3. Package: turn the working app into a self-contained Docker bundle that starts with everything already in place: database, users and settings. Nothing should need to be set up by hand after docker compose up. 4. Deliver: send us the bundle, which includes: • the Compose file, pinned to the exact version • the database and app data • a short README covering the version, the user logins and how to start it • the exported Burp history from your walkthrough You’ll do well if you: • are comfortable with Docker and Docker Compose (volumes, environment variables, networks) • have some Python or JavaScript experience • are patient and thorough, and follow written steps closely Nice to have: Burp Suite, Postman or QA testing experience. How it works: • You’ll need a computer with at least 16 GB RAM that runs Docker (Linux, macOS, or Windows with WSL2). • Each app has an agreed hour estimate before you start. Tell us early if it looks like it will run over. • Everything runs locally on your machine. • There’s a short NDA, and everyone starts with one paid pilot app. To show you’ve read this far, start your proposal with the name of the last Docker image you pulled.
