Senior Edge AI / Computer Vision Architect – Remote Paid Contract

We are hiring a senior freelance technical architect for an active, paid software project involving edge computer vision and verifiable event measurement. The system processes video streams from existing IP cameras on local edge hardware. It does not use facial recognition, and raw video is not uploaded to the cloud. This is a fully remote, computer-based contract. The selected freelancer will be hired and paid through Upwork. Initial scope and deliverables The freelancer will: Review the existing prototype, source code, and technical requirements. Produce a complete system architecture for the edge, backend, and web components. Design the processing flow for RTSP/ONVIF cameras and NVIDIA Jetson or equivalent edge hardware. Define a technical approach for measurement uncertainty, calibration, system-health monitoring, and automatic abstention when input quality is insufficient. Design a tamper-evident event register using digital signatures and hash chaining. Prepare the API and integration specification for POS, WMS, and other third-party systems. Define the security model, testing strategy, deployment process, and production-readiness requirements. Produce a prioritized implementation backlog with milestones and technical risk estimates. Present the final architecture and recommendations in a remote review meeting. Required experience Five or more years of relevant software engineering experience, or at least two comparable software systems successfully delivered. Strong experience with Python, Linux, Git, and software architecture. Practical experience with computer vision, video processing, or edge AI systems. Experience designing and coordinating systems involving multiple technical components. Strong written technical documentation skills. Preferred experience OpenCV, object detection, and multi-object tracking. NVIDIA Jetson, CUDA, GPUs, or other edge inference hardware. RTSP, ONVIF, HLS, or IP camera integrations. FastAPI, PostgreSQL, MQTT, React, or TypeScript. Applied cryptography, digital signatures, hash chains, secure boot, or remote attestation. Experience transforming research prototypes into production software. Contract structure Fully remote. Hourly contract through Upwork. Initial engagement: approximately 15–20 hours per week for four weeks. Potential extension into implementation and technical leadership based on the initial engagement.
