About Opten Group Opten Group is a UK-based AI automation and software development company established in January 2026. We’re a small, growing team currently supporting three clients with bespoke AI automation and software integration projects. As founders, we currently manage most client communication, technical requirements and coordination with our outsourced developers. We’re looking for someone to take ownership of these responsibilities, allowing us to focus on growing the business. The Role We’re seeking a technically knowledgeable Project Manager who can operate as an extension of the Opten team, representing our company directly in client meetings. You’ll act as the bridge between our clients and outsourced developers, helping identify automation opportunities, scope requirements, coordinate development and manage delivery. This is a flexible, ongoing position, with work allocated as required rather than a fixed full-time commitment. Key Responsibilities * Client meetings: Independently lead meetings with clients and their technical teams, representing Opten professionally. * Technical scoping: Understand existing business processes, identify opportunities for AI automation and translate requirements into clear development briefs. * Developer coordination: Work directly with our outsourced developers, managing priorities, progress, technical questions and delivery. * Client communication: Provide regular updates, manage expectations and act as the main point of contact for technical queries. * Technical support: Understand our existing applications, AWS infrastructure and codebases to assist with troubleshooting, testing and smaller changes when required. * Project ownership: Track outstanding actions, follow up on deliverables and ensure work progresses without constant involvement from the founders. Essential Requirements * Excellent spoken and written English — non-negotiable. * Confident leading client meetings independently. * Previous experience managing technical software development or AI automation projects. * Strong understanding of APIs, system integrations, software development and cloud infrastructure. * Ability to scope technical requirements and communicate them effectively to developers. * Proactive, organised and comfortable working independently. * Availability during UK business hours for client meetings. Desirable: AWS, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, AI/LLM integrations, workflow automation and hands-on troubleshooting experience. Working Arrangement We’re looking for a long-term working relationship with an individual freelancer, not an agency. The position will initially be part-time and ad hoc, based on client requirements, scheduled meetings and technical support needs. There is potential for the role to grow as Opten expands.
