1. Position Description
Position Overview
NovoaGlobal is seeking a technically minded Technical Systems Analyst to monitor, test, investigate, and analyze the behavior and performance of our production systems and back-office applications. This is not primarily a software development position. The role is intended for someone who is curious about how systems work under the hood and who can reason systematically from symptoms and data toward plausible causes. The position also serves as the CEO’s executive personal assistant, providing proactive coordination, administrative support, and follow-through on business priorities while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
The successful candidate will identify anomalies, formulate and test hypotheses, analyze data, logs and system behavior, design small experiments, document findings, and work with development and operations teams to ensure that systems operate accurately and reliably. Hands-on scripting or programming experience is required as evidence of programming logic and structured problem solving; scripting will also be useful for investigation, data validation, automation, monitoring, and repeatable experiments. In parallel, the candidate will organize the CEO’s schedule, correspondence, meetings, research requests, and action items, independently tracking commitments through completion.
Key Responsibilities
• Monitor the operation and performance of production and back-office systems.
• Review system activity for errors, inconsistencies, unexpected behavior, and performance issues.
• Test new features, modifications, bug fixes, integrations, and releases before and after deployment.
• Develop structured test cases covering normal operation, boundary conditions, invalid input, regression risks, and edge cases.
• Reproduce reported problems and document exact steps, inputs, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
• Analyze system data to identify anomalies, trends, discrepancies, duplicates, omissions, and potential processing failures.
• Verify calculations, workflows, business rules, automated processes, reports, and interfaces between systems.
• Investigate alerts, exceptions, failed processes, performance degradation, and unusual results; distinguish symptoms from root causes and software, data, configuration, integration, infrastructure, and user issues.
• Communicate defects clearly enough for developers to reproduce and correct them, then verify the correction.
• Use SQL, scripting/programming (for example Python, Perl or Bash/shell), spreadsheets, logs, APIs, JSON/XML, and other analytical tools when appropriate.
• Help improve monitoring, testing procedures and quality controls, and create small diagnostic, validation or automation scripts where useful.
Executive & Personal Assistant Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate the CEO’s calendar, appointments, meeting logistics, travel arrangements, and changing priorities.
• Draft, organize, and follow up on professional emails, letters, meeting agendas, notes, and executive communications.
• Maintain an action-item tracker for CEO requests, commitments, deadlines, and cross-functional projects; proactively request updates and close loops.
• Prepare concise summaries, research briefs, presentations, spreadsheets, and decision-support materials for the CEO.
• Coordinate with employees, customers, vendors, and external partners on the CEO’s behalf, using sound judgment about urgency and escalation.
• Handle sensitive business and personal scheduling or logistical requests with strict confidentiality, professional boundaries, and discretion.
• Anticipate needs, resolve routine administrative obstacles independently, and distinguish decisions requiring CEO approval from tasks that can be completed autonomously.
• Keep executive files, contact information, and meeting records organized and accessible; use productivity and AI tools responsibly with appropriate data protections.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related technical field, or equivalent demonstrable technical experience.
• Previous hands-on scripting or programming experience, for example Python, Perl, Bash/shell, or a comparable language.
• Strong logical and analytical problem-solving ability.
• Understanding of variables, conditions, loops, functions, data structures, error handling, and how to use code to test a hypothesis or analyze data.
• Ability to reason about how components of a software system interact and to investigate behavior across application, database, operating system, integration, and network boundaries.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify patterns and inconsistencies in data.
• Ability to methodically troubleshoot a problem and communicate findings clearly.
• Comfort working with spreadsheets and structured data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Executive Support Requirements
• Excellent organization, prioritization, follow-through, and written business communication skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information and exercise mature judgment with minimal supervision.
• Comfort coordinating multiple stakeholders, schedules, deadlines, and rapidly changing requests.
• Proficiency with calendars, email, document preparation, spreadsheets, and meeting platforms.
• Willingness to support a mix of technical analysis, executive administration, and occasional personal logistics within agreed working arrangements.
Preferred Qualifications
• SQL and relational databases
• Linux
• REST APIs and JSON/XML
• Software QA/testing methodologies
• Automated testing
• Log analysis
• Scripting and data-analysis tools (Python, Perl, shell/Unix tools, or similar)
• Git/version control
• Web applications and browser developer tools
• System monitoring tools
• Networking fundamentals
• Data validation and reconciliation
Preferred Executive Support Experience
• Prior experience supporting a CEO, founder, or senior executive.
• Experience preparing executive briefings, managing travel, and tracking multi-team action items.
The Mindset We Are Hiring For
More than a specific number of years of experience, NovoaGlobal is looking for a way of thinking. The right person should naturally ask:
• What should the system have done, and what did it actually do?
• Why are the results different?
• Can I reproduce the problem consistently?
• Does it happen every time or only under certain conditions?
• What happens with missing, duplicated, invalid, late, or unexpected input?
• Does the underlying data support what the application is showing?
• Could this change have affected another workflow?
• How can we test this systematically rather than checking individual examples?
Scripting & Programming Requirement
Candidates must have previous hands-on experience with scripting or programming. The specific language is less important than the candidate's ability to use code as a practical tool for investigation, data analysis, validation, automation, and experimentation. Experience with Python, Perl, Bash/shell, or comparable languages is relevant. Candidates should be comfortable reading existing scripts, writing small investigative tools, manipulating structured data, and explaining the logic behind their approach.
