AI Accounting Automation for Bexio

We are a Swiss company looking for an experienced automation/API developer to build an AI-powered accounting automation workflow for Bexio. Our goal is to automate as much of our recurring bookkeeping work as possible while keeping human review/approval for critical accounting steps. The solution should ideally use the Bexio API together with an AI/LLM (Claude/Anthropic, OpenAI, or another suitable solution). WE WANT TO AUTOMATE: - Processing supplier invoices and receipts (PDFs/images) - Extracting invoice information automatically (supplier, invoice number, date, amount, currency, VAT, etc.) - Suggesting or assigning the correct Bexio accounting account based on previous bookings and defined accounting rules - Correct handling of Swiss VAT (MWST), including different VAT codes and foreign supplier invoices / reverse charge where applicable - Creating expenses or supplier invoices directly in Bexio - Detecting possible duplicate invoices - Preparing data for quarterly Swiss VAT (MWST) reporting - Monthly accounting/reporting overview - Monitoring overdue customer invoices in Bexio - Sending an email notification to our assistant when invoices become overdue so that she can follow up with the customer IMPORTANT The automation should learn/follow our existing bookkeeping logic. We already have historical bookings in Bexio that can be used as examples for how recurring suppliers and expenses are categorized. For uncertain transactions, the system should flag the transaction for human review instead of automatically booking it. We do not need automation for payroll, HR, payments, government correspondence, or direct communication with customers. These tasks remain with our assistant. REQUIREMENTS: We are open to the technical approach, but experience with the following is highly desirable: Bexio API Accounting/bookkeeping automation AI/LLM APIs (Claude/Anthropic, OpenAI, etc.) PDF/document extraction Workflow automation (n8n, Make, Python or similar) Swiss accounting / VAT logic is a strong advantage The system should be reliable, auditable and designed so that accounting entries can always be traced back to the original document.
