AI Developer with AI API integration experience for medical platform

We're building a medical platform and need a developer who can integrate AI capabilities via API into a production healthcare product. You'll connect LLM and other AI services to our backend, design reliable data flows, and make sure everything holds up to the accuracy, privacy, and compliance standards that medical software demands. What you'll do • Integrate AI/LLM APIs (Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, or similar) into our existing platform • Design and build backend endpoints (Node.js + Python) that orchestrate AI calls, handle retries, streaming, and error states • Implement prompt engineering, structured outputs, and validation layers for clinically-sensitive use cases • Work with structured and unstructured medical data (documents, notes, images) while respecting PHI handling rules • Optimize for latency, cost, and reliability at scale • Collaborate with product and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions Requirements • Proven experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into production applications • Strong backend development skills with Node.js and Python • Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, streaming responses, and async processing • Understanding of data privacy and security fundamentals (HIPAA/GDPR awareness is a strong plus) • Ability to write clean, testable, well-documented code Nice to have • Prior work on healthcare or medical software • Experience with vector databases, RAG pipelines, or embeddings • Familiarity with prompt engineering best practices and evaluation frameworks • Frontend experience (React/Next.js) for building AI-facing UI What we're looking for Someone who cares about correctness and safety, not just shipping fast — this is a medical context where mistakes carry real weight.
