Backend Engineer – Python, FastAPI, APIs, Automation & AI Integrations

We are looking for a strong Backend Engineer to design, build and maintain the services behind a growing set of business applications, automation workflows and AI-powered systems. You will work closely with an AI/ML engineer and other technical stakeholders to turn business requirements and prototypes into reliable production services. This is not primarily a website development role. We are looking for someone comfortable designing backend architecture, APIs, databases, asynchronous processing, integrations and deployment infrastructure. What you will work on: Design and develop backend services and APIs. Build REST APIs using Python and frameworks such as FastAPI, Django or Flask. Design clean service architecture that can evolve as products grow. Integrate internal services with third-party APIs and external platforms. Develop authentication, authorization and access-control mechanisms. Design relational database schemas and optimize database queries. Build asynchronous and long-running processing workflows. Implement queues, background workers, retries and scheduled jobs. Develop services that expose and consume AI/ML capabilities. Handle file, document and data-processing workflows. Implement structured logging, monitoring and error handling. Containerize services using Docker. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines. Deploy and operate applications in cloud environments. Improve system reliability, security and performance. Write tests and maintain clear technical documentation. Diagnose production issues and improve existing services. Core experience: We are particularly interested in candidates with practical experience in: Python FastAPI, Django and/or Flask REST API design PostgreSQL SQL Docker Git Authentication and authorization Background workers and asynchronous processing Redis Message queues Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure CI/CD Unit and integration testing Logging and monitoring Third-party API integrations Experience with technologies such as Celery, Redis Queue, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS or similar systems is useful.
