  • Erfahrung: Fortgeschritten
Location: Remote — must work Sydney business hours (9:00am–6:00pm AEST/AEDT) Employment type: Full-time Reports to: IT / Engineering Manager About the role We are looking for a hands-on DevOps and QA engineer to take ownership of environments, releases and product quality across four production platforms. This is a combined role: you will keep our AWS infrastructure and deployment pipelines healthy, and you will also plan and run the testing that gets each release out the door. Our products serve the healthcare industry, supporting both business (B2B) and consumer-facing (B2C) use cases. Our platforms include a practice management system used daily by clinics, a patient booking system, and further products supporting our wider product ecosystem. Downtime and defects are felt immediately by real clients and their end users, so quality matters here. You will work alongside a development team of 8+ engineers. Priorities shift as releases land, so we need someone who can move between products quickly without losing context or dropping quality. What you'll do DevOps • Own and maintain AWS infrastructure: EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, load balancers and certificates • Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for build, test and deployment • Manage development, staging, UAT and production environments, including test data refreshes and environment parity • Monitor system health, set up alerting, and respond to incidents; produce root cause summaries afterwards • Manage backups, restore testing, and disaster recovery procedures • Handle SSL/TLS certificates, DNS changes, and domain configuration • Support release management: release notes, deployment windows, rollback plans Testing / QA / QC • Write and maintain test plans, test cases and regression suites for all four products • Perform functional, integration, regression, cross-browser and UAT testing on each release • Build and maintain automated test coverage (UI and API) where it delivers value • Run API testing and validate integrations between systems • Perform smoke and sanity checks on production immediately after deployment • Log, triage, prioritise and verify defects in Jira; drive them through to closure with developers • Maintain QA documentation, runbooks and knowledge base articles in Confluence • Contribute to sprint planning and refinement with a quality and risk perspective • Enforce release quality gates — sign-off is yours Required experience • 5+ years in a DevOps, testing, QA or combined engineering role • Strong, current hands-on AWS experience — EC2, RDS, S3, Route 53 and related services • Solid working knowledge of Jira and Confluence — not just as a user, but configuring workflows, boards, test documentation and reporting • Experience delivering on a large project with a team of 8 or more developers, including release coordination across multiple workstreams • Proven ability to switch between projects quickly — adaptable, dynamic, comfortable with changing priorities and multiple concurrent products Practical experience across the full testing lifecycle: test planning, execution, defect management and release sign-off • Linux server administration and shell scripting • Version control workflows (Git — branching, pull requests, code review process) • Clear written and spoken English; able to communicate with developers, management and non-technical staff • Able to work 9:00am–6:00pm Sydney time, consistently and reliably Nice to have • Test automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium) and API testing tools (Postman/Newman) • PHP / Laravel, and experience deploying via Laravel Forge • SQL — MySQL, PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server; able to write queries to validate data • Infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and containerisation (Docker) • Performance and load testing experience • Security testing awareness — OWASP Top 10, vulnerability scanning • Exposure to healthcare or medical software, and the data handling expectations that come with it • Familiarity with Australian Privacy Act obligations, data residency requirements or ISO 27001 • ISTQB or AWS certification What we're looking for in a person • Ownership. You see a problem through to resolution rather than passing it along. • Pragmatism. You know when a test suite needs automating and when a checklist is enough. • Attention to detail. You catch the edge case before the client does. • Flexibility. You can leave one product mid-week, pick up another, and be productive the same day. • Communication. You keep Jira and Confluence current so nobody has to ask you for status. Working arrangements Remote work is fine. What is not flexible is the hours — you need to be online and contactable during Sydney business hours, 9:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, so that you overlap fully with the development team and with the clients using our software. Occasional after-hours deployment windows may be required, with time in lieu. How to apply Send your CV along with a short note covering: • The largest team and project you have worked on, and what you owned on it • Your AWS experience — which services, and what you built or maintained • An example of a defect or incident you caught before it reached customers
