We are looking for a Front-End Developer to create an interactive platform for data import, mapping, and validation. This platform will help users transfer information from external files into our digital products and internal business systems. The project's goal is to simplify the process of importing structured data from spreadsheets and CSV files by providing an intuitive interface. Users will be able to upload files, preview their contents, match incoming columns to the appropriate system fields, identify data quality issues, and review the information before final submission for processing. Instead of requiring users to manually reorganize files or rely on technical support to resolve formatting problems, the application will guide them through a structured import workflow. Users will understand how their data will be interpreted, identify missing or incorrectly formatted values, correct supported issues, and confirm that the information is ready for submission. The initial project will focus on developing a complete front-end experience for this workflow, including file selection, data previews, field mapping, validation feedback, correction interfaces, import summaries, and submission status tracking. The application will connect to back-end APIs for file processing, validation results, and import operations. This role requires a strong understanding of interactive interface development, complex forms, tabular data presentation, state management, and user-friendly error handling. The developer will transform a multi-step technical process into a clear, reliable experience that caters to both technical and non-technical users. The aim is to deliver a maintainable application that improves data imports, reduces avoidable input errors, and lays the groundwork for future enhancements, such as saved mapping templates, scheduled imports, and integrations with additional data sources.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Develop a responsive data import interface that guides users through selecting a file, reviewing its contents, mapping fields, validating records, and submitting the final import.
- Build file selection and upload interfaces that support specified file formats, initially focusing on CSV and Excel spreadsheets.
- Implement drag-and-drop file selection alongside conventional file browsing options.
- Create a data preview interface that displays incoming records in a structured table with appropriate column headings, row navigation, and clear formatting.
- Implement table interactions such as horizontal scrolling, pagination or virtualized rendering where appropriate, column resizing as necessary, and clear indicators for selected or problematic cells.
- Develop an interactive field-mapping interface that allows users to match incoming file columns to the corresponding fields expected by the destination system.
- Provide suggested field matches based on column names and available metadata while allowing users to review and modify mappings before continuing.
- Display required fields, optional fields, data types, and formatting expectations to help users understand the mapping requirements.
- Implement validation feedback for missing required values, invalid dates, incorrect number formats, duplicate identifiers, unsupported values, and other agreed-upon data quality rules.
- Highlight invalid rows and individual cells to assist users in identifying where corrections are needed.
- Build correction interfaces that allow users to edit supported values, review validation messages, and revalidate records before submission.
- Develop clear visual indicators for valid records, records requiring attention, and records that cannot be imported.
- Create a review and confirmation screen that summarizes the selected file, field mappings, record counts, validation results, and any outstanding issues.
- Implement import progress indicators and completion summaries that communicate successful records, rejected records, and any processing errors returned by the backend.
- Integrate the front-end application with available APIs for retrieving field definitions, uploading files, obtaining validation results, submitting import requests, and retrieving import status.
- Manage application state across the multi-step workflow, ensuring that user selections, field mappings, corrections, and validation results remain consistent as users navigate between steps.
- Handle loading states, empty datasets, unsupported files, failed uploads, expired sessions, interrupted requests, and other common error scenarios, providing clear recovery options.
- Implement safeguards against accidental data loss when users navigate away from an unfinished import or replace a file.
- Ensure that large spreadsheets can be previewed and navigated efficiently without causing unnecessary rendering delays or excessive browser memory usage.
- Develop reusable front-end components for file upload, data tables, mapping controls, validation messages, progress indicators, and other essential features.
