We are looking for an experienced PrestaShop developer with strong technical SEO knowledge to work on an existing e-commerce website. The website recently went through: a major redesign; a significant PrestaShop upgrade from an older version to a much newer version. A full technical SEO audit has already been completed. It identified several issues that appear to come mainly from global technical causes in the theme, modules, hooks, overrides or PrestaShop configuration, rather than isolated URL-by-URL problems. The objective is to identify and fix the root causes, not simply apply manual redirects or install another SEO module. Main technical issues identified The main issues include: multiple link rel="canonical" tags generated on many pages, sometimes with conflicting canonical URLs; incorrect canonical handling for pagination, sorting parameters and other URL parameters; product variant / combination URLs creating duplicate SEO URLs; technical URLs containing parameters such as cURL and controllerUri being accessible and sometimes indexable; indexation issues affecting technical pages such as login/account-related URLs; missing H1 tags on many category and subcategory pages; multiple H1 tags generated on many product pages, partly due to configurator steps being rendered as H1 headings; duplicated H2 headings appearing in the DOM on some product templates; structured data issues involving Product, Offer, Brand, BreadcrumbList, Product Snippets and Merchant Listings; structured data being completely absent on some product pages; final review of robots.txt, XML sitemap, indexability and crawl behaviour after the fixes. Important product-variant issue This website sells customizable products. We have identified a specific technical constraint: some product URLs contain a product combination / variant ID. From an SEO perspective, these URLs can create duplicate versions of the same product. However, during testing, redirecting one of these variant URLs to the clean product URL caused problems with: uploaded customer photos; personalization data; product configuration; add-to-cart functionality. Therefore, these URLs must not simply be redirected or removed without understanding how the personalization system works. The developer will need to find a solution that preserves: the correct product combination; uploaded photos; personalization data; selected options; add-to-cart functionality; checkout functionality; while also creating a clean and consistent SEO URL/canonical architecture. What we are looking for We are specifically looking for someone with strong experience in: PrestaShop 1.7 and/or recent PrestaShop versions; PHP and PrestaShop architecture; themes, modules, hooks and overrides; canonical URL generation; product combinations / attributes; URL routing and parameters; technical SEO; Schema.org / JSON-LD; crawl/indexation issues. This is not a content SEO or meta-tag editing job. We need a developer who can investigate the technical architecture and make global, maintainable corrections at source level. A detailed technical specification based on the SEO audit will be provided to the selected developer. When applying, please answer these questions What experience do you have with PrestaShop technical SEO issues? Have you previously fixed duplicate or conflicting canonical tags in PrestaShop? Have you worked with product combination / variant URLs and customized products? How would you investigate a situation where redirecting a product variant URL to the clean product URL breaks personalization or add-to-cart functionality? Have you worked on Schema.org / Product / Offer / Merchant Listings issues in PrestaShop? Please provide examples of similar PrestaShop projects you have worked on. Please indicate your hourly rate or preferred pricing method. We are looking for someone who can diagnose the root cause before making changes, test carefully, and ensure that SEO improvements do not break the e-commerce or personalization functionality.
