Outlook Email Extraction – Python Development Project Project Summary: AE Techron is developing an internal knowledge base from approximately 15–20 years of historical Outlook email. The first phase requires a Python utility that can extract email data from a PST archive and transfer it into Microsoft 365 for later review and AI classification. Freelancer Responsibilities: Develop and test a Python application that will: - Read an Outlook PST file directly using an appropriate library, such as `pypff/libpff`. - Process all selected folders and messages within the PST. - Extract the following information: - Date and time - Sender and recipients - Subject - Email body - Outlook folder - Attachment names and files - Conversation or thread identifiers, when available - Assign each message a consistent unique ID to prevent duplicate imports. - Upload metadata to a Microsoft List and save full email content and attachments in a SharePoint document library using Microsoft Graph. - Link each List record to its corresponding SharePoint content. - Maintain a processing log and checkpoint so an interrupted import can resume without starting over. - Record errors without stopping the entire extraction. - Protect credentials by using secure configuration rather than storing passwords or access tokens directly in the code. Initial Pilot: The first version will be tested with a sample PST containing approximately 500–1,000 representative emails. After the pilot is approved, the application should be capable of processing the complete archive. Required Deliverables: - Complete, commented Python source code - List of required libraries and installation instructions - Configuration instructions for the PST location, SharePoint site, Microsoft List, document library, and Microsoft Graph authentication - Basic operating instructions for running, stopping, and restarting the application - Error and processing logs - Assistance testing and correcting the code during the pilot AI classification, technical-content evaluation, and creation of the final knowledge base are separate project stages and are NOT part of this initial coding assignment.
