## Build an Automated Revit → Blender Pipeline
We are a real estate visualization technology company looking for an experienced **BIM / 3D automation developer** to build a system that automatically converts architectural Revit models into clean, accurate, visualization-ready Blender models.
### The Problem
Today, our 3D teams can spend several weeks manually rebuilding or cleaning architectural models for visualization.
We want to automate as much of this as possible.
**Input:** Architectural Revit model for a large luxury condo/apartment building.
**Output:** A clean, lightweight, correctly organized Blender model containing the architectural geometry needed for high-quality visualization.
We are NOT looking for someone to manually model buildings.
**We want someone to build the automated pipeline that creates them.**
### What the System Should Do
Starting with a Revit model, automatically:
* Extract/convert all visually relevant architectural geometry
* Preserve accurate dimensions and placement
* Keep walls, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, curtain walls, mullions, stairs, railings, balconies, columns, built-ins, etc.
* Remove unnecessary BIM/construction/MEP geometry
* Remove geometry that will never be visible
* Clean and optimize meshes
* Identify repeated elements and use instances where appropriate
* Preserve useful Revit metadata such as element ID, category, family, type and level
* Organize the Blender scene intelligently by building / floor / unit / room / element where possible
* Produce a substantially lighter, cleaner model suitable for architectural visualization
We are open to the best technical approach.
Possible technologies include:
**Revit API / C# / Python / Datasmith / IFC / IfcOpenShell / Bonsai / Speckle / FBX / Blender Python API / Autodesk Platform Services**
We do NOT require a particular approach. We want someone who understands this problem well enough to recommend the best architecture.
### Automation Is the Goal
The important part of this project is not converting one building.
We want to build a reusable system where eventually we can:
**Drop in a Revit building → automatically receive a clean Blender visualization model.**
Human intervention should be limited primarily to QA and unusual architectural conditions.
We are also interested in using AI/LLM agents to inspect models, identify problems, execute Blender Python scripts and automate QA where useful.

You may be a good fit if you have experience with several of these:
* Revit API development
* BIM automation
* C# and/or Python
* Blender Python API
* IFC / IfcOpenShell / Bonsai
* Datasmith
* Autodesk Platform Services
* Speckle
* Procedural geometry
* Mesh optimization
* BIM-to-game-engine or BIM-to-visualization workflows
* Automated architectural model processing
Strong software engineering is more important than artistic rendering ability.

### Initial Paid Test
We would like to start with a real Revit model from a large residential building.
The first milestone is simple:
**Revit → automated conversion → cleaned Blender model**
We will compare the output against a professionally prepared visualization model and measure:
* Geometry accuracy
* Completeness
* Scene organization
* Polygon/object reduction
* Metadata preservation
* Visual fidelity
* Human cleanup time
If successful, this can become a significant ongoing project. We have a large volume of luxury real estate visualization work and are developing multiple AI/3D technologies around these models.
