We are seeking an experienced Back-End Developer to lead the creation of a comprehensive and secure document processing and approval workflow system. This system is designed to empower organizations by enhancing document management, streamlining coordination during review processes, accurately tracking approval decisions, and maintaining a reliable audit trail of all document-related activities. The primary objective of this project is to develop a centralized back-end solution that includes various functionalities, such as document submission, thorough validation processes, strategic review assignment, dynamic approval routing, version tracking, and stringent access controls over sensitive documents. The proposed system will provide a user-friendly experience, allowing users to easily submit documents, assign appropriate reviewers based on predefined criteria, define multi-step approval pathways, monitor workflow progress in real-time, and retrieve finalized records through a structured and intuitive application interface. As the Back-End Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the robust back-end architecture necessary to support these functionalities. Your responsibilities will include developing RESTful APIs to ensure seamless communication between the front end and back end, structuring a responsive and secure database for document storage needs, and implementing well-defined workflow rules that govern the document approval process. Additionally, you will establish secure methods for handling documents, including encryption, user authentication, and role-based access control to safeguard sensitive information. The solution must provide reliable document storage capabilities, efficient retrieval mechanisms, and the flexibility to configure approval workflows according to the varying needs of different organizations. It is crucial that the system offers clear status tracking to keep all stakeholders informed about the progress of document reviews, along with comprehensive audit logging to maintain a detailed history of significant actions taken within the system. This includes tracking who accessed which documents, any changes made, and the timestamps associated with each action, thus ensuring accountability and transparency. In summary, the successful implementation of this system will streamline document management processes and enhance organizational efficiency and compliance through robust tracking and secure document handling practices. Key responsibilities for this position include: - Develop the Back-end Architecture: Design and implement the server-side structure needed for document processing, workflow management, user permissions, and approval operations. - Build Document Submission Services: Develop APIs that allow authorized users to submit documents, provide metadata, and initiate approval workflows. - Implement Document Validation: Create back-end validation rules for required fields, file types, file sizes, document metadata, and submission requirements. - Develop Approval Workflow Logic: Implement configurable approval stages, reviewer assignments, approval rules, rejection handling, and workflow progression. - Build Document Status Management: Maintain document states such as Draft, Submitted, Under Review, Approved, Rejected, and Archived. - Develop Reviewer Assignment Services: Create functionality for assigning documents to individual reviewers or designated approval groups. - Implement Document Versioning: Maintain document versions and ensure that revisions are recorded without losing the history of previously submitted files. - Develop Secure File Handling: Implement appropriate file storage, retrieval, access validation, and secure download processes. - Design the Database: Develop database structures for documents, users, workflow definitions, approval records, file metadata, permissions, and audit events. - Build REST APIs: Create reliable API endpoints for document submission, workflow initiation, reviewer actions, status updates, document retrieval, and approval history. - Implement Role-Based Access Control: Define permissions for submitters, reviewers, approvers, administrators, and other authorized roles. - Develop Notification Services: Implement back-end functionality for triggering notifications when documents are submitted, assigned, approved, rejected, or returned for revision. - Create Background Processing Jobs: Implement asynchronous processing for tasks such as file validation, document metadata extraction, notification delivery, and workflow reminders when needed. - Maintain Audit Trails: Record significant actions, including document creation, file updates, reviewer assignments, approval decisions, and permission changes. - Implement Error Handling and Recovery: Develop reliable mechanisms for handling failed operations, invalid submissions, interrupted workflows, and background job failures. - Optimize Back-end Performance: Improve database queries, API response times, file processing efficiency, and workflow execution performance. - Develop Automated Tests: Create tests for workflow transitions, document permissions, validation rules, API behavior, and database operations. - Support Integration and Deployment: Collaborate with front-end developers and technical team members to integrate back-end services, test the system, and prepare it for deployment. - Maintain Technical Documentation: Document API endpoints, database structures, workflow rules, configuration requirements, and important implementation decisions.
