About us
HRS Commerce (hrscommerce.com) is a hosted e-commerce platform for UK and EU supplement brands. Each store gets its own shop front, checkout, order management, shipping and email marketing. It’s built on Medusa (Node.js/TypeScript) with Postgres, hosted on Railway, with Cloudflare in front. The platform is live with paying stores and growing.
The role
We’re looking for a careful, experienced backend engineer to own the technical side: the integrations that move orders, money and parcels. You’ll work directly with the founder and our UI/graphics designer.
What you’ll work on
Courier integrations: Royal Mail Click & Drop now, with Evri and DPD (directly or via Sendcloud) next
Payment connections: Stripe, Atlos (crypto) and Fena (open banking), including webhooks and refunds
Store imports from WooCommerce and Shopify (orders, customers, products, discount codes)
Email sending and deliverability (Mailjet / Mailgun)
Deploys, backups, monitoring (Sentry) and keeping several stores safely up to date
What we’re looking for
Strong Node.js / TypeScript and Postgres
Real experience connecting to third-party APIs, including webhooks, retries and idempotency
E-commerce background; Medusa, Shopify apps or WooCommerce experience is a big plus
Comfortable with Railway / Docker / Cloudflare, or similar
Safety-first habits: you test on staging, you never fire test orders at real carriers or payment accounts, and you write down what you changed
Nice to have
UK shipping experience (Royal Mail, Evri, DPD, labels, tracking)
Experience with regulated or high-risk merchant categories
How we work
Remote, long-term, part-time to start (around 10–15 hours a week), increasing as the platform grows
Starts with a short paid trial task (for example, adding a new courier to a test store)
Access to live stores comes after the trial
Weekly written update: what you did, what’s next, anything blocked
To apply, please include:
A short note on an integration you’ve built (carrier, payment or marketplace) and what went wrong along the way
Your GitHub or examples of your work
Your hourly rate and the hours you can give each week
Start your reply with the word “Parcel” so we know you’ve read this.
