The short version
We need someone who can look at a piece of content that did 4 million views and tell us exactly why - the angle, the tension in the first two seconds, the reason it hit that audience and not the one next door. And then we need that same person to turn that instinct into a system that runs without them.
Most people have one half of this. They can write a hook that stops a thumb, or they can build an agent that processes a thousand inputs. We're looking for the rare person who does both, because the whole business depends on that combination.
What you'll own
The angle engine. We produce content at volume across a lot of different verticals and customer profiles. The bottleneck is never production - it's angles and voice for each client. You'll build and own the system that generates them: the taxonomy, the frameworks, the swipe libraries, the matrix of pain × angle × audience that lets a team of ai writers and agents produce sharp work instead of guessing.
The agents that run it. You'll build the tooling that ingests outlier content, reverse-engineers why it worked, and turns that into briefs. Not prompt tinkering - actual systems with retrieval, evaluation, and outputs a strategist can use without editing every line.
The measurement layer. You'll know which angles win and why, per vertical, per platform, per audience. You'll build the tracking that makes that legible instead of anecdotal, and you'll close the loop so the system gets smarter every week.
The standard. You'll be the person who says a concept isn't good enough. That matters more than anything else on this list.
Who you are
You've written copy that performed and you can prove it - not impressions, but the specific thing you wrote and what it did. You have opinions about hooks that you'll defend. You can watch fifty videos in a vertical you've never touched and come out with a point of view on what that audience actually responds to.
On the technical side: you've built real agentic workflows. Python or TypeScript, comfortable with LLM APIs, retrieval, evals, and the unglamorous work of making a pipeline reliable. You're fluent in analytics - platform data, cohort behavior, creative-level performance - and you can tell the difference between a signal and a coincidence.
You've probably been the most creative person on an engineering team or the most technical person on a creative team, and you've been a little frustrated in both.
What this isn't
This is not a content manager role. You won't be scheduling posts, making graphics, or running client comms - we have people for that. This is not an ML research job either. It's the strategy layer: the thinking that determines what gets made, encoded into systems that scale past you.
Comp and growth
$70K–$120K depending on experience, with performance-based upside tied to what the systems you build actually produce.
Real talk on the growth: we're a small team and this role is being created because it's the constraint on everything else. The person who does it well ends up owning the creative function and having a hand in what the company becomes. There is no ceiling here that isn't self-imposed, and there's no layer of management between you and the decisions.
