We are looking for an experienced senior full-stack developer or development team to build a complete, scalable e-commerce platform for a new UK-focused made-to-measure home furnishings business. Reference Website Please use the following website as a reference for the type of customer experience, product functionality and overall business workflow we want to achieve: https://www.britanniarose.com/ We are NOT asking you to copy their code, branding, design, images or copyrighted content. We want an original website and architecture with a similar level of functionality, adapted to our own products, branding and India-to-UK business model. What we want to build Customers should be able to: Choose a fabric → see that fabric across different products → order a sample → configure made-to-measure products → receive an accurate live price → order online → track production → receive delivery → contact support. The same fabric should be able to power multiple products such as: Made-to-measure curtains Roman blinds Cushion covers Tiebacks Fabric by the metre Other coordinated home-furnishing products We want one integrated system rather than separate disconnected plugins/software. Core Requirements 1. Fabric Catalogue A central fabric database containing: Fabric name Collection Supplier Supplier reference Colour Pattern Composition Fabric width Usable width Pattern repeat Pattern matching Direction Care information Product suitability Cost Stock Roll/dye-lot information Images Sample availability One fabric must connect to all compatible products. 2. Made-to-Measure Product Configurator Customers should be able to configure products based on their exact requirements. For curtains, for example: Width Drop Single/pair Heading Lining Interlining Fullness Pattern repeat Other manufacturing options The system must calculate: Material required Manufacturing cost Options Delivery Applicable tax Final customer price The final price must be validated server-side. 3. Fabric Visualisation / Image Generation A very important requirement is the ability to use one fabric image and generate multiple product/room visualisations. For example: One fabric image → curtain image → cushion image → tieback image → room scene We would like reusable templates/masks where possible rather than manually creating hundreds of separate images. The system should support: Fabric texture mapping Pattern scale Pattern repeat Fabric direction Product templates Room templates Automatic image generation Image optimisation Preview approval Regeneration Please explain how you would technically implement this. We are open to image-processing, rendering, AI-assisted or hybrid approaches, provided the result is accurate and commercially practical. 4. Product Pages Product pages should support: Fabric selection Sample ordering Measurements Product options Dynamic pricing Product specifications Images Related products Matching products using the same fabric Delivery information FAQs Reviews SEO 5. Customer Accounts Customers should be able to: Register/login Save addresses View orders Track orders Save fabrics Wishlist Save room/project Save product configurations Order samples Reorder Contact support 6. Shopping & Checkout Complete e-commerce functionality: Cart Checkout Payments Coupons Discounts Tax/VAT handling Shipping calculation Order confirmation Invoice Refunds Partial refunds Failed payments Payment webhook handling 7. Manufacturing / Production Workflow After an order is placed: Payment → specification approval → fabric allocation → procurement if required → cutting → sewing → QC → packing → dispatch → delivery Staff should see the exact manufacturing specification for each order. 8. Fabric Inventory We need actual material inventory, not just normal product stock. For example: Fabric A Roll 1 = 18m Roll 2 = 10m Roll 3 = 7m The system should track: Available metres Reserved metres Used metres Remaining metres Roll Dye lot Supplier Replenishment Different products must consume the same fabric inventory. 9. Procurement When material is insufficient: Procurement request Supplier Quantity Cost Expected arrival Purchase order/reference Received quantity 10. Quality Control Before shipment, staff should be able to record: Correct fabric Correct dimensions Pattern alignment Stitching Heading Lining Quantity Packaging Result: PASS / FAIL / REWORK Photos/evidence should be attachable. 11. Shipping Integration with shipping/carrier systems should support: Package weight Dimensions Shipping cost Tracking number Carrier Tracking URL Shipment status Delivery confirmation Initial focus is India → UK, with architecture that can support additional countries later. 12. Customer Support We want support connected to customer/order information. Required: Contact form Email enquiries Support tickets Order-linked support Callback requests WhatsApp/contact integration Internal notes Staff assignment Refund/remake requests 13. Refund / Remake Workflow The system should support: Faulty product Manufacturing error Incorrect specification Damaged delivery Remake Refund Partial refund Support escalation 14. Admin / Management Dashboard Management should be able to view: Sales Orders Pending orders Production Fabric shortages Procurement QC failures Remakes Refunds Shipments Support tickets Customer enquiries Technology We are NOT restricting the project to WordPress/WooCommerce. We are open to the best technology/framework for this type of platform. You may recommend: Laravel Next.js React Vue Node.js WooCommerce Magento Shopify Custom e-commerce platform Headless architecture Hybrid architecture Or another technology Please recommend the architecture you genuinely believe is best. We want you to explain: Why you recommend that technology How you would build the product configurator How you would build fabric-to-product visualisation How you would handle dynamic pricing How you would handle fabric inventory How you would handle manufacturing workflow How you would scale the system later We are more interested in a good architecture and long-term maintainability than using a particular framework. Important: We Want Your Recommended Budget & Timeline Please do not simply quote based on the reference website. After reviewing the requirements, please provide: Your recommended technology Example: Laravel + Vue or Next.js + Node or WooCommerce + custom PHP or another architecture. Estimated development budget Please provide: MVP / Phase 1: £ / $ / ₹ Full version: £ / $ / ₹ Optional advanced features: £ / $ / ₹ Estimated timeline Please provide: MVP: X weeks Full system: X weeks Please break the timeline down by major phases. Please Provide a Detailed Proposal Your proposal should include: Technical Recommended architecture Frameworks Database Frontend Backend Hosting APIs Image-generation approach Security Scalability Commercial Total estimated budget Hourly rate if applicable Estimated hours Milestones Payment schedule Third-party costs Hosting costs API/AI/image-processing costs Ongoing maintenance cost Delivery Development timeline Team members Your role in the project QA/testing process Launch process Post-launch support Proof of Experience Please provide examples of previous projects involving any of the following: E-commerce Made-to-measure products Product configurators Dynamic pricing Manufacturing workflows Inventory management Image visualisation Custom order systems WooCommerce Laravel React/Next.js APIs UK e-commerce Please include live links wherever possible. Do not send only generic WordPress portfolio websites. Proof of Concept Before starting the complete project, we may ask shortlisted candidates to demonstrate a small proof of concept. For example: Test 1 Upload one fabric image and show how it can be applied to: Curtain Cushion Tieback Room scene Test 2 Enter curtain measurements and demonstrate: Material calculation Dynamic price Configuration saving Test 3 Show how the resulting order would flow through: Customer → Payment → Production → QC → Shipping → Support Important We are looking for someone who can think about the complete business system, not simply build a visually attractive website. The reference website is: https://www.britanniarose.com/ Use it to understand the type of functionality and customer journey we are targeting. We want an original implementation, not a clone. Please read the complete requirements before applying. In your first response, please answer these 6 questions: 1. What technology/framework would you recommend and why? 2. What would your estimated budget be for the complete system? 3. What would your estimated timeline be? 4. Which parts would you build custom and which would use existing platforms/services? 5. How would you implement the fabric-to-product image generation? 6. Please provide 2–3 relevant examples of your previous work.
