Engineer for a next-generation AI video app (Electron, Rust, TypeScript)

We're a small San Francisco startup building a next-generation AI video app: a desktop app that helps creative teams search and pull clips from very large video libraries. It's Electron and TypeScript, with heavy media processing and AI running locally on the machine. We need one engineer, starting with 4 to 5 weeks at about 20 hours a week. THE WORK You open the app, find what's broken, trace it to the real cause, fix it, and ship it. Then you find the next thing. We'll set priorities, but we expect you to find most of the work yourself. Video is different from most software. The files are huge, so heavy work never runs on the UI thread. If that instinct comes naturally, you'll do well here. ON AI Use AI constantly, so you can take on more than one person could. Read everything before it leaves your hands. Unreviewed AI output that lands on our desk will end the contract. HOW WE WORK - Every PR has a real description: what changed, why, and how you tested it - A short written update every working day - If you're stuck, tell us that day THIS IS PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU IF - You need every task fully specified before you start - You go quiet for days at a time - You think AI output is finished work REQUIREMENTS - Several years shipping production software, mostly in TypeScript - Experience with large files, performance work, or desktop apps - Strong written English - At least 4 hours a day of overlap with US Pacific time, Monday to Friday - A recent Apple Silicon Mac with 32 GB or more of RAM (the app runs AI models locally) PROCESS A paid one-day trial, then the 4 to 5 week contract.
