I am looking for an experienced full-stack developer to help complete, stabilize, and launch an existing asset and inventory management SaaS product. The platform is designed for organizations that need better visibility and control over physical assets, quantity-managed inventory, maintenance activities, audits, employees, locations, and operational workflows.
A substantial portion of the application has already been built using OpenAI Codex. It currently includes asset management, stock inventory, maintenance ticketing, projects and workspaces, QR and barcode scanning, inventory audits, employee management, configurable roles and permissions, reporting, exports, and custom fields. The application currently runs locally as a functional demonstration product. There are multiple customers in the pipeline waiting for production-ready version.
I need an experienced developer to review the existing codebase, identify technical and functional gaps, resolve defects, strengthen the architecture, and prepare the application for a secure production launch in Microsoft Azure. I am not looking to rebuild the entire application unless specific components genuinely require replacement. The objective is to retain the completed work while improving what is necessary for reliability, security, maintainability, and future growth.
I am a non-technical founder who will remain closely involved in product decisions, testing, customer implementation, and workflow design. I need someone who can explain technical matters clearly, recommend practical solutions, and take ownership of bringing the product into production.
Initial Responsibilities
- Review and document the frontend, backend, database, APIs, authentication, permissions, and deployment structure.
- Identify bugs, security risks, incomplete workflows, scalability concerns, and technical debt.
- Recommend what should be retained, repaired, refactored, or replaced.
- Establish a production-ready database and remove remaining dependencies on mock or local-only data.
- Ensure assets, stock, maintenance records, audits, users, permissions, locations, and transaction histories are reliably connected.
- Validate all create, view, edit, delete, search, filter, sort, import, export, scanning, and reporting functions.
- Complete secure authentication, password management, session handling, and Microsoft Entra ID/SSO readiness.
- Prepare the application for multiple customers with secure separation of company data, users, settings, and permissions.
- Review and secure the REST API for future machine-to-machine integrations.
- Improve validation, error handling, logging, database migrations, and audit trails.
- Ensure the responsive interface works correctly on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Validate QR-code and barcode workflows, including mobile camera scanning and physical label generation.
- Add automated tests for critical business workflows and complete structured manual testing.
- Configure development, test, and production environments.
- Deploy the application to Microsoft Azure using a secure and maintainable architecture.
- Establish secure handling of API keys, secrets, certificates, environment variables, backups, and disaster recovery.
- Configure CI/CD so tested updates can be deployed safely.
- Implement production monitoring, application logging, uptime alerts, performance tracking, and error reporting.
- Produce clear technical and deployment documentation.
Production Launch Deliverables
The initial engagement should result in:
- A documented codebase and architecture review.
- A prioritized list of defects, risks, and recommended improvements.
- An agreed production-readiness implementation plan.
- A stable staging environment for acceptance testing.
- A secure production deployment in Microsoft Azure.
- A production database with backup and recovery procedures.
- Working authentication, customer separation, roles, and permissions.
- Tested critical workflows with documented results.
- A reliable CI/CD deployment process.
- Monitoring, logging, and error-alerting capabilities.
- Technical documentation and a clear handoff process.
- Support through the first customer onboarding and launch stabilization.
Future and Ongoing Support
I would prefer to establish a long-term relationship with a developer who can continue providing:
- Production monitoring and incident response.
- Bug fixes and technical troubleshooting.
- Security and dependency updates.
- Azure infrastructure and cost optimization.
- Database maintenance and performance improvements.
- Customer onboarding and implementation support.
- New features and workflow enhancements.
- Third-party system and API integrations.
- Microsoft SSO and enterprise configuration support.
- Future mobile capabilities.
- Release management across development, staging, and production.
- Technical guidance as the product grows into a multi-customer SaaS platform.
Required Experience
Applicants should have strong experience with:
- Full-stack TypeScript and JavaScript development.
- Modern React-based frontend applications.
- Backend APIs and production database design.
- Microsoft Azure deployment and administration.
- Multi-tenant SaaS architecture and customer-level data isolation.
- Authentication, authorization, role-based access control, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- REST APIs and third-party integrations.
- CI/CD pipelines, Git, source control, and release management.
- Automated testing and production quality assurance.
- Application security, secrets management, logging, backups, and monitoring.
- Responsive web applications and mobile browser compatibility.
- Reviewing, stabilizing, and improving an existing AI-assisted codebase.
Experience with inventory management, asset management, maintenance systems, auditing, QR/barcode scanning, or enterprise SaaS products would be especially valuable.
Ideal Working Style
The ideal freelancer:
- Can independently evaluate an unfamiliar codebase.
- Is comfortable working with an application initially developed with AI assistance.
- Does not recommend a complete rewrite without supporting evidence.
- Can explain risks, costs, and tradeoffs to a non-technical founder.
- Documents decisions and completed work.
- Provides realistic estimates and communicates scope changes.
- Prioritizes security, data integrity, usability, and maintainability.
- Is available to support the product after launch.
Proposed Engagement
I would like to begin with a paid technical discovery and code audit. The developer will review the application, run it locally, inspect the architecture, test critical workflows, and provide a written assessment containing:
- Technical findings.
- Identified risks and defects.
- Recommended architecture.
- Prioritized implementation plan.
- Estimated hours and costs.
- Proposed milestones.
- Recommended Microsoft Azure services.
- Production launch requirements.
After agreeing on the plan, development would proceed through milestones such as application stabilization, backend and database completion, security improvements, testing, Azure staging deployment, production launch, and post-launch support.
Application Questions
1. Describe a SaaS product you have taken from an MVP or prototype into production.
2. What experience do you have deploying and maintaining applications in Microsoft Azure?
3. Have you implemented multi-tenant architecture, permissions, and customer-level data isolation?
4. How would you determine whether an AI-assisted codebase should be retained, refactored, or partially rebuilt?
5. What would you include in a production-readiness audit?
6. Are you available for ongoing maintenance and production support?
7. What is your availability?
8. Are you willing to sign an NDA and assign all project-related intellectual property to the hiring company?
9. Please provide examples of relevant applications or technical projects you have delivered.
Thanks, Kortanix
