POP/COLLECTIVE is an early stage SaaS marketplace being developed for the pop up and independent vendor ecosystem, beginning in Greater Montreal.
I am looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer with strong SaaS architecture experience to help build the first version of the platform, with the possibility of developing into a long term technical partnership as the product grows.
The objective is to build a clean, scalable and responsive web based MVP with three core interfaces: Vendor, Organizer and Consumer, supported by a centralized event database and internal admin system.
Vendor Interface
Vendors will be able to create profiles, discover pop up and market opportunities through a centralized database, search and filter opportunities by criteria such as category, date, location, application deadline and booth price, save opportunities and track applications.
For events managed directly through POP/COLLECTIVE, vendors will be able to apply through the platform and follow their application status, including Submitted, Under Review, Accepted, Waitlisted and Rejected.
Organizer Interface
Participating organizers will be able to create and manage organizer profiles and event listings, receive vendor applications and manage applicants through a centralized dashboard.
The application workflow should allow organizers to review vendors and Accept, Waitlist or Reject applications.
For Phase 1, integrated marketplace payment processing is not required. Accepted vendors may instead receive the organizer's payment instructions or external payment link.
Consumer Interface
Consumers will have a simple, free and public facing experience focused on discovering what is happening in Montreal.
The main feature will be an interactive map displaying upcoming pop ups and markets throughout the city.
Users should be able to view key information such as:
• Event name
• Location
• Date and time
• Event category
• Basic event details
• Organizer information where applicable
The consumer interface does not need the operational functionality available to vendors and organizers. Its primary purpose in Phase 1 is local event discovery.
Centralized Event Database
The event database is a core component of the MVP and should power both the vendor discovery experience and the consumer map.
The system must support both administrator curated events and organizer submitted events. This is important because POP/COLLECTIVE needs to provide useful event inventory even before every Montreal organizer has joined the platform.
The admin interface therefore needs to allow POP/COLLECTIVE to efficiently create, edit, verify, update, publish and manage event listings.
Technical Architecture
The MVP should be built with future scalability in mind.
POP/COLLECTIVE will launch in Montreal, but the architecture should allow the platform to expand into additional cities without rebuilding the core system.
I am looking for a developer who can advise on and implement:
• Database architecture
• User roles and permissions
• Authentication
• APIs
• Search and filtering
• Map integration and geolocation data
• Admin functionality
• Responsive web architecture
• Security
• Deployment
• Scalability
Future phases are expected to introduce integrated payments, contracts and invoices, messaging, organizer operations, analytics, recommendations and additional marketplace functionality. The Phase 1 architecture should therefore provide a strong foundation for those future capabilities.
I already have the business model, product roadmap and Phase 1 strategy defined and will be working on the UI/UX direction separately.
For the right developer, there is a strong possibility of continued work across future development phases.
For our initial conversation, I would like to discuss your recommended technology stack, database architecture, approach to the three user experiences, map implementation, development timeline, estimated scope and examples of SaaS or marketplace platforms you have personally built.
