Developer Needed – Dutch Supermarket Price Comparison Web App (AI + Web Scraping) I am looking for an experienced developer to build a one-page grocery price comparison web app for the Dutch market. Visitors enter their shopping list and see which nearby supermarket offers the lowest total price based on the latest available prices. Scope - One clean, fast, mobile-first page with a shopping list calculator - Website entirely in Dutch - Price data from all major Dutch supermarkets (for example Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Lidl, Aldi, Plus, Dirk, Hoogvliet, Vomar, DekaMarkt, Poiesz, Spar and Ekoplaza) - Full product assortment wherever reliable price data is available - Accurate product matching across supermarkets, including brands, package sizes and price per kilo or litre - Organic option: visitors can choose organic products, which are compared only with other organic products - Weekly automatic price updates for each supermarket, aligned with its regular promotional schedule - Include national promotions and multibuy offers, with accurate promotion start and end dates - Clear display of the date and time of the last successful update for each supermarket - Location search: visitors enter a town or postcode and a radius (for example 15 km) to compare nearby supermarkets; optional map - AI input: visitors type their shopping list in natural Dutch language, and the app matches it to the correct products and quantities - Compare the total shopping basket price, clearly indicating unavailable products or incomplete comparisons - Automatic checks on prices and product matches to detect outliers, incorrect matches and missing data - Simple admin view to review and correct product matches - Error reporting when a data source fails Technical Requirements - Reliable scheduled weekly price updates for each supermarket, based on its promotional cycle and independent of website traffic - Automatic monitoring for failed updates, outdated prices and important changes between scheduled updates - AI and other API keys stored server-side only, never in the frontend - Store locations from OpenStreetMap or a comparable source - Knowledge of EU legal restrictions regarding scraping and data usage - Scalable database and efficient product matching - All accounts, source code, databases and project assets owned by the client from day one - Clean, documented and maintainable code In Your Proposal, Please Include 1. Comparable projects: Links to previous price comparison, scraping or data feed projects. Relevant experience is required. 2. Recommended tech stack: Which platform, frameworks and database you recommend, and why. 3. Price data collection: How you would collect, update and match supermarket prices, which tools you would use, which supermarkets can realistically be supported, and how updates would follow each supermarket's promotional schedule. 4. Additional operating costs: A breakdown of all costs outside your development fee, estimated per month or year: - Data collection (scraping tools, proxies, data providers) - AI API usage - Hosting and database - Maps and location search - Paid plugins, licences and third-party services - Monitoring and any other recurring costs 5. Monthly maintenance fee: Including fixing broken data sources, maintaining weekly updates and resolving technical issues. 6. Timeline and development cost: Estimated delivery time, total project price and proposed milestones. Important Reliable supermarket price data and accurate product matching are essential. Please explain any technical or legal limitations rather than promising coverage that cannot be maintained. The system should update each supermarket according to its regular promotional cycle rather than unnecessarily scraping all supermarkets every day. It must also handle changes to promotional schedules and clearly indicate when price data is outdated. I am open to starting with a small proof of concept covering three supermarkets before expanding to the full platform. Proposals without examples of comparable work will not be considered.
