Node.js/TypeScript Engineer – Telehealth, Twilio & Real-Time Communications

About TeleDocta TeleDocta is a technology-driven telehealth company expanding access to high-quality healthcare across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond. We are building a scalable digital health platform that connects patients in Africa with qualified healthcare professionals in the United States and Europe through video, voice, messaging, and integrated clinical workflows. Our focus is on markets where geography, limited specialist availability, infrastructure, and cost can make access to high-quality care difficult. TeleDocta is designed to bridge that gap by combining international clinical expertise with technology that can operate across countries, languages, payment systems, and varying levels of connectivity. TeleDocta combines a strong social mission with a commercial, technology-first approach. We are building practical healthcare infrastructure that can make international medical expertise accessible to patients who might otherwise have limited access to it. The Role We are looking for an experienced software engineer to help develop and expand the TeleDocta platform. Required experience: Strong Node.js and TypeScript development experience REST APIs, databases, and modern web application architecture Experience integrating Twilio or similar video, voice, or messaging platforms Experience with telehealth, healthcare applications, or real-time communications strongly preferred Comfortable working in an existing codebase with a small, senior technical team Able to work independently and contribute to technical design as well as implementation Useful additional experience: WebRTC WhatsApp integrations Healthcare security and privacy Payment integrations International or emerging-market applications Low-bandwidth or mobile-first product design This is initially a contract position with the potential for ongoing work. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, pragmatic, and interested in building a product with meaningful real-world impact.
