react-js, typescript, video-editing, motion-graphics

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience: Intermediate
Summary We are building every graphic in our long-form films in Remotion: disclosure cards, scripture and text on screen, source lower-thirds, chapter and recap cards, and later maps. Text is often legally or editorially fixed, so it must be rendered exactly as supplied, from data, never hard-coded. Some modules (recap cards, end cards) must switch off cleanly so the episodes can be re-rendered as a single feature cut. Scope (sized to budget) - Part-time. Fixed-price milestones, about $399/month cap (estimate). - Milestone 1: card system (disclosure card, recap card, end card) as props-driven compositions, timed against a guide voice track. - Milestone 2: a reusable text-on-screen template for long held passages with on-screen credit lines. - Milestone 3: a source and date lower-third template. Deliverables - A Remotion repo with typed props (JSON in, video out), README, and render scripts at 4K / 24 fps. - Toggleable modules: one flag removes the recap and end cards for the feature cut. Required skills - Shipped Remotion projects (send the code or renders). - React/TypeScript; video timing and typography sense. - Readability at 1080p and on small screens. Paid screening test (fixed price: $120, estimate) Brief 1 (Enoch), §4 disclosure card (also used on episode 2, §4 note) (verbatim text supplied; white on black; held 8 seconds; placed at about 0:09:00) plus the §2.0 removable 20-second recap card. Task: build both as parameterised compositions. The recap must be a toggleable prop. - Pass: exact wording rendered from data; correct hold; clean toggle; legible. - Fail: hard-coded text, baked-in modules, or decorative motion over legal text. - Time cap: about 3 hours (estimate). Screening questions 1. Link one or more Remotion projects you built, and describe your part. 2. How do you drive compositions from JSON so that copy edits need no code change? 3. How would you sync card timing to a voice guide track? 4. How do you keep 4K renders manageable on long timelines? 5. What is your rate, and do you prefer fixed-price milestones? Proposed budget (all estimates) - Test: $120 fixed. - Ongoing: fixed-price milestones of about $150–250 each (estimate), within a $399/month cap, which is about 8–13 hours at roughly $30–50/hr (estimate). Red flags - Only web-app work and no rendered video. - After Effects only (Remotion is required). - Retypes supplied legal or editorial text. - Can't show code.
