Senior Data Engineer

Senior Data Engineer We’re seeking an experienced data engineer to help build, improve, and validate data solutions. The ideal freelancer is strong in SQL, comfortable using Python, and able to work independently while communicating clearly with product, QA, and engineering teams. Responsibilities - Write and maintain complex SQL queries using CTEs, joins, and analytic or window functions. - Use data profiling to assess keys, cardinality, data types, precision, scale, and skew. - Work with Snowflake on data engineering tasks, hands-on project experience is preferred. - Understand requirements and take initiative to move work toward its goals. - Coordinate with product, QA, and other technical teams to clarify scope and communicate progress. Required skills - Advanced SQL, including complex joins, CTEs, and analytic/window functions. - Working knowledge of Python; intermediate or stronger skills preferred. - Experience with data profiling and assessing data quality and structure. - Clear written and verbal communication. Preferred qualifications - Professional experience as a senior data engineer or in a similar role. - Hands-on Snowflake experience. - Experience with data modeling. - Healthcare data experience, particularly with payer data, is a plus. - A degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field is welcome, equivalent practical experience is also relevant. - Technical certifications are a plus.
