Senior Developer to Take Over Root Skin App: MVP to iOS & Android Launch

Root is an AI-built MVP/beta for acne and skin tracking. It helps users track their skin, symptoms, potential triggers and lifestyle patterns over time. I'm looking for an experienced senior developer to take ongoing technical ownership of the existing app and bring it to a polished, secure and reliable public launch on the Apple App Store and Google Play. GETTING STARTED Your first step would be to review the existing codebase, architecture, infrastructure and data flows, understand how the app works, identify what needs fixing, and agree on a practical development plan with priorities, estimates and milestones. This review would be paid work within the takeover role. From there, the intention is for you to lead and carry out the development through launch, with scope, budget and milestones agreed together. Recommend what to keep, refactor or rebuild based on the codebase and product needs. RESPONSIBILITIES • Production readiness: improve code quality, authentication and authorization, reliability, performance, testing, deployment processes, monitoring, backups and recovery, and maintainable documentation. • Sensitive health information: review data collection and flows; implement appropriate access controls, encryption, secure storage, logging and retention/deletion controls, including third-party/AI service handling. • GDPR implementation for European users: identify technical gaps and implement agreed privacy requirements, including consent where appropriate, data minimization, user data access/export/deletion and vendor/data-transfer considerations. Work with qualified privacy/legal advisers on legal requirements, documentation and responsibilities. • HIPAA applicability: help map intended US use cases, data relationships and vendors for assessment with qualified legal/compliance advisers; implement applicable technical safeguards if required. We do not expect a developer alone to determine or guarantee legal compliance. • UI/UX improvements: create a professional, consistent and accessible experience; improve onboarding, tracking flows, responsiveness and overall product quality. • iOS and Android launch: recommend the right mobile approach after reviewing the existing app, implement and test it, and support packaging, signing, store submissions, privacy disclosures and review fixes. WORKING RELATIONSHIP I'm looking for someone who can own the technical direction and execution, proactively identify risks, explain tradeoffs, give transparent estimates and provide regular updates. Code, infrastructure and store accounts should remain under the founder's ownership. I'd also like to discuss ongoing maintenance and support after launch. PLEASE INCLUDE 1.
