We’re Agentic Private Markets, a US-based, remote-first startup building AI agents for private equity and private markets. We’re building our product from scratch and are looking for experienced freelance frontend engineers to add to our network.
How it works: you’ll be contracted with us, and whenever a project or requirement comes up, we’ll reach out and work together. This is a long-term freelancing relationship, not a one-off gig. You’ll work directly with a small, senior team and the founder, with real ownership over the frontend on each project.
What you’ll do
Build frontend features and products from scratch (0→1), not just maintain existing screens
Own frontend architecture decisions: project structure, state management, data fetching, rendering strategy, and component design
Build and maintain reusable, well-documented components
Keep the app fast: profile, diagnose, and fix performance bottlenecks
Work closely with backend engineers and the founder to turn ideas into working product
Write clean, typed, testable code and review others’ work
Must-have requirements
3–6 years of professional frontend engineering experience
Proven startup experience: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats
Have built a product from scratch: can walk us through a project you took from zero to production
Have owned frontend architecture on your own: you made the calls, not just followed them
Strong React and Next.js (App Router, SSR / SSG / ISR / CSR trade-offs)
Strong TypeScript (generics, utility types, conditional types)
Solid understanding of state management: local state vs. global (Redux/Zustand) vs. server state (React Query)
Hands-on performance optimization experience (React Profiler, Chrome DevTools, Lighthouse / Core Web Vitals, bundle analysis)
Experience building shared UI component libraries / design systems
Comfortable with REST APIs (GraphQL is a plus)
Excellent written and spoken English
Able to take up work at short notice when a project comes up
Nice to have
Experience with AI / LLM-powered products, real-time features (WebSockets), or data-heavy dashboards
Experience with Tailwind, Storybook, and testing (Jest, Playwright, React Testing Library)
Light backend exposure (Node.js)
Hiring process
Short screening Q&A
Technical interview (Q&A on frontend fundamentals plus a small practical question)
Culture-fit and critical-thinking conversation with the founder
