Senior API Integration Engineer for Veterinary SaaS (PMS / EHR Integrations)

We’re building Lassi, a veterinary clinical software platform that integrates with practice management systems (PMS) and needs reliable read/write access to patient records. We’re looking for a senior integration engineer who can work alongside our backend team to help us move quickly on PMS integrations without pulling core engineers away from the product. Initial priorities: - Troubleshoot and validate our current DataHub/Pulse integration - Work with Covetrus Connect and other veterinary APIs - Verify complete historical patient/medical-record retrieval - Build and test reliable writeback into the PMS - Handle authentication, webhooks/polling, schema mapping, retries, logging and regression testing - Help establish a repeatable integration architecture for additional PMS platforms We are not looking for someone to redesign the core product. Our backend lead will own Lassi architecture. We need someone who can take ownership of the integration layer, work directly with vendor APIs, identify problems quickly, and get working code into production. Strong fit: - Senior backend/API integration experience - REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth/API-key authentication - Python and/or TypeScript/Node - PostgreSQL/data mapping experience - Experience with third-party SaaS integrations - Strong debugging skills when vendor documentation and actual API behavior don’t match - Comfortable communicating directly with external technical teams Healthcare/EHR/EMR, veterinary software, HL7/FHIR, or practice-management-system experience is a plus but not required. Some veterinary PMS platforms are cloud-based while others use Windows/on-premise connectors, so experience with local agents or Windows integrations would also be valuable. This is initially a 6–8 week contract, roughly 15–25 hours/week, with the potential for ongoing work if the fit is strong and we continue expanding integrations. We value speed, ownership, clear communication, and engineers who can figure things out without a lot of hand-holding.
