Senior/Staff Python + Flask Engineer — Stabilize Existing AI-Built System Looking for a senior/staff/principal-level software engineer to stabilize and repair an existing application that has been developed extensively using Claude/Codex. Current stack: - Python - Flask - PostgreSQL - SQLite - Git - automated tests / validation - AI-assisted development workflows The codebase is substantial but currently has recurring failures, inconsistent behavior, excessive build friction, and likely architectural / technical-debt issues accumulated through repeated AI-assisted development. The objective is to bring the existing system to a stable, reliable engineering baseline. Scope: - trace and understand the current application architecture and execution paths; - identify root causes of failing or unreliable workflows; - fix broken Python / Flask implementation and integration issues; - review PostgreSQL / SQLite usage and resolve conflicting or incorrect data paths; - identify duplicate state, competing sources of truth, dead code, and unnecessary abstractions; - repair and strengthen automated tests and regression coverage; - simplify architecture where complexity is not justified; - stabilize build and development workflows; - critically review AI-generated code rather than assume existing design decisions are correct; - preserve sound existing components rather than default to a rewrite. This is not a greenfield build and not primarily a prompt-engineering role. Strong candidates should have substantial experience with: - senior-level Python / Flask development; - PostgreSQL and SQL; - SQLite; - debugging and stabilizing existing production applications; - application architecture and data-flow analysis; - automated testing and CI; - refactoring and technical-debt reduction; - Git-based engineering workflows; - taking ownership of complex existing codebases. Experience with Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or other coding agents is useful, but strong conventional software-engineering judgment is more important. Expected working approach: 1. establish the actual current architecture and failure points; 2. prioritize critical defects; 3. fix and validate one bounded area at a time; 4. provide tests and reproducible evidence for each material fix; 5. simplify or remove unnecessary code where appropriate; 6. leave the system more stable and easier to extend after each change. Please include: 1. Relevant Python / Flask / PostgreSQL systems you have inherited and stabilized. 2. Examples of difficult architectural or data-consistency issues you diagnosed and fixed. 3. Experience repairing or cleaning up AI-generated codebases, if applicable. 4. How you determine whether existing architecture should be repaired, simplified, or replaced. 5.
