AI Software Engineer for AI Startup

HeyHuddl (heyhuddl.ai) is an AI meeting partner that joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls in real time, listens, and contributes, then carries that context into chat, voice, and shared docs afterward. We're a small founder-led team hiring our second engineer to work directly with the CTO who built the product. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own scoped features end to end across the web UI and the backend it talks to. Turn loosely defined requests into the smallest correct change, with a test that proves it. Fix bugs by reproducing first and following the patterns already in the codebase. Reuse our design system. Communicate tradeoffs and progress in plain English. OUR STACK Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, Tailwind · async Python with FastAPI, background workers, Postgres · SSE/WebSockets for real-time · Clerk, Stripe, Radix, SWR/React Query. We use AI coding tools heavily and expect you to as well. MUST HAVE Shipped React + TypeScript to production. Comfortable making ordinary changes in FastAPI and Postgres. Strong debugger. Notices interface detail (alignment, states). Strong written and spoken English. NICE TO HAVE LLM product features, Chrome extension or mobile, SWR/React Query, Radix, Clerk, Stripe, SSE/WebSockets. Big plus if you've shipped a full product and can explain the problem, the design choices, and the impact. STRUCTURE Long-term, full-time hours, contractor to start, with a path to a permanent role and equity if it works. Türkiye time zone preferred for overlap with our CTO; strong candidates elsewhere considered. Process: short application → brief AI video screen → 45-min coding assessment → paid 4–6 hour trial task in our stack → technical interview with the CTO → founder conversation.
