CodeIgniter to Laravel Migration

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with deep expertise in PHP to lead the modernization of our core platform. Your primary mission will be migrating an application from CodeIgniter to a modern, scalable Laravel architecture. - Lead the Migration Strategy: Analyze an existing CodeIgniter codebase, identify technical debt, and architect a phased migration plan to Laravel. - Develop & Refactor: Translate legacy MVC patterns, custom routing, and monolithic logic into modern Laravel conventions (Service Providers, Dependency Injection, Eloquent ORM, Jobs/Queues, and Middleware). - Database Modernization: Migrate complex MySQL queries into Eloquent models and Laravel Migrations, ensuring data integrity during the transition. API Development: Design and build robust, RESTful APIs in Laravel to replace legacy web endpoints, enabling better integration with modern frontend frameworks. - Testing & Quality Assurance: Establish a comprehensive testing suite using PHPUnit or Pest. Write unit and feature tests to verify that the migrated logic strictly mirrors or improves upon the legacy application's behavior. - Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with product managers, QA, and frontend engineers to minimize downtime and user disruption during rollout phases. Document the new architecture and API endpoints. - Infrastructure & DevOps: Own the deployment lifecycle on AWS/Azure, leveraging CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, stable delivery. Required Skills & Qualifications - Experience: 3+ years of professional backend development experience using PHP. - Laravel Expertise: Advanced proficiency in modern Laravel ecosystem features (Eloquent, Artisan, Blade, Routing, Events, Queues, and Caching). - CodeIgniter Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of CodeIgniter to effectively read, trace, and reverse-engineer legacy business logic. - Database Architecture: Deep understanding of relational databases (MySQL), query optimization, and migrating complex schema relationships. - Modern PHP Standards: Strict adherence to PSR standards, SOLID principles, and proficiency with Composer package management. - Version Control: Excellent Git hygiene and experience working in collaborative, PR-driven workflows.
