Full-Stack AI Engineer - goola (Freelance) Employment type: Freelance / contract engagement. Remote-friendly; team based in Tel Aviv. About goola. We are building the future of financial services for individuals and organizations alike, addressing both sides of the relationship: the customer and the service provider. Our work spans consumer-facing products, the platforms advisors and institutions use to serve those customers, and the data and intelligence layer beneath them, delivered across web, mobile, ML and AI. Responsibilities Operate with a high degree of autonomy. We are a small team, and each engineer carries substantial ownership of a product area. You will be expected to drive work end to end, coordinating with the relevant functions rather than waiting for direction. Develop features across the full stack: TypeScript/React web front ends, NestJS and Python/FastAPI services, and a MySQL/Aurora data layer, alongside mobile surfaces. Work with regulated financial data (pension, insurance, savings, and clearing-house feeds), where inaccuracy carries material consequences for customers and correctness takes precedence over delivery speed. Own delivery across the full lifecycle: requirements analysis, implementation, code review, validation on staging, and release to production. Diagnose issues across system boundaries, tracing a discrepancy in a displayed figure through the API and data model to the query, migration, or upstream integration responsible. Requirements B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science, or an equivalent engineering discipline. A minimum of five years developing and shipping production software. Strong command of TypeScript or Python, with working proficiency in the other. Our stack uses both: TypeScript/React on the web front ends and across the Node/NestJS services, Python/FastAPI on the onboarding API. Expertise in both is not expected; being blocked by either is not workable. Substantive SQL experience, including schema design, migrations, and query performance analysis. Established use of AI tooling within the development lifecycle: AI coding agents applied beyond autocomplete, including agent skills and custom subagents, automated code review, test generation, and agent-assisted debugging and refactoring. We expect informed judgment about where these tools deliver genuine leverage and where their output requires verification before release. Working knowledge of AWS and CI/CD, sufficient to deploy and verify your own work. Self-direction and clear communication. A freelance engagement here entails ownership of outcomes. Advantages AI engineering and agent infrastructure on AWS: experience building and operating production agent systems on AWS, such as Amazon Bedrock AgentCore: deploying an agent runtime with managed memory and identity, and exposing internal APIs to agents through a gateway with tracing and observability in place. This extends to MCP (Model Context Protocol), building or integrating MCP servers that connect agents to internal systems, data sources, and tooling. Data-science model development: designing, training, and deploying models that run in production. For example: a propensity model ranking which financial products suit a given customer; a forecasting model projecting long-term savings and retirement outcomes from contribution history. Mobile development (React Native or native), or an ML/data-science background. Fintech, insurtech, or other regulated-data domain experience. Familiarity with the Israeli pension and insurance market. Infrastructure as code (Terraform), or experience in application security and dependency management.
