Summary
We are looking for an experienced WordPress developer to help improve how our website stores and serves media files.
Currently, images are stored directly on the WordPress server. We want to migrate existing images to external object storage such as AWS S3 or Cloudflare R2, and configure WordPress so that future image uploads are automatically stored there as well.
The goal is to reduce server storage usage and improve the reliability and performance of media delivery.
Scope of work:
* Review the current WordPress media/storage setup
* Recommend whether AWS S3 or Cloudflare R2 is the better option for our setup
* Configure WordPress so new media uploads are stored in S3/R2
* Migrate existing WordPress Media Library images to the new storage
* Make sure existing image URLs and pages continue working
* Update references where necessary without breaking existing posts/pages
* Configure CDN/public delivery if required
* Verify thumbnails, featured images, WebP images, and other generated image sizes work correctly
* Ensure images are no longer unnecessarily consuming local server storage
* Create a safe backup before migration
* Test the website after the migration for broken images or other issues
We want someone who has previously worked with:
* WordPress
* AWS S3 and/or Cloudflare R2
* WordPress Media Library migrations
* Object storage/CDN integrations
* Database URL replacements and migrations
* PHP and WordPress debugging
Please include examples of similar WordPress media migrations you have completed.
In your proposal, please also briefly explain which approach you would recommend for handling existing images and future uploads.
This is initially a one-time task, but there may be additional WordPress development work afterwards.
