Revit Automation Developer for Small Architecture Firm

About us We are a small NYC residential architecture design firm. We use Revit as our primary documentation platform and are looking to develop a custom set of pyRevit buttons specifically tailored to our office workflow. Who We're Looking For Start: Fall 2026 We are looking for a Revit Automation Developer with strong pyRevit experience to work closely with our design team to develop a series of custom pyRevit buttons/toolkits for Revit 2027 that automate repetitive tasks in our project setup phase. We would like to start with one paid pilot project before committing to the larger 3–6 month engagement. The pilot will allow both sides to evaluate the working relationship and technical fit. If successful, we expect to continue developing additional pyRevit buttons and expand the toolkit across our office. What You'll Do - Learn and understand our firm's Revit workflow and documentation standards. - Identify opportunities for automation, and translate our workflows into practical, easy-to-use custom pyRevit buttons and extensions. - Develop approximately 10–30 pyRevit buttons for Revit 2027. - Work directly with our design team to test, refine, and troubleshoot each tool. - Ensure the buttons are reliable, user-friendly, maintainable, and deployable across multiple users in our office. - Help us identify additional opportunities for Revit automation as the toolkit develops. Initial pyRevit Button Goals We are particularly interested in developing buttons that automate room-based view and sheet setup, including: 1. View Creation & Setup - Create floor plans. - Create room-based detail plans, RCPs, elevations, 3D views. - Automatically name and number views. - Automatically apply appropriate view templates. 2. Sheet Setup - Create sheets or identify sheets from template for view placement - Automatically assign sheet names and numbers. - Place views/viewports in standardized locations on sheets. - Organize views according to our office standards. 3. Documentation - Automatically place tags based on predefined rules. - Automatically place dimensions where appropriate. - QA/QC Identify missing tags. - QA/QC Identify other common documentation issues through QA/QC buttons. Required Skills - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills - Organized and detail-oriented - Ability to communicate clearly and meet deadlines - Strong Revit API (Application Programming Interface) experience and Python skills - Ability to translate architectural workflow requirements into practical pyRevit tools - Excellent understanding of Revit views, sheets, viewports, rooms, tags, dimensions, view templates, and annotations Required Experience - Strong professional experience developing custom pyRevit buttons/extensions for architecture firms’ documentation workflows. - Experience with Revit 2027 Work Location - Remote work - Weekly discussions via Zoom Please send: - A brief introduction about yourself and your pyRevit experience. - A portfolio or examples of custom pyRevit buttons/extensions you have developed and are particularly proud of.
