Senior ArcGIS Developer: Python, Field Maps and API Integration

We need an experienced ArcGIS developer to help a client automate and improve an existing, largely manual workflow that already runs on ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. The work combines configuration with development: Python tools in ArcGIS Pro, offline data capture in ArcGIS Field Maps, automated PDF outputs, and integration with third-party back-office systems through REST APIs. This is hands-on development work to an agreed design, from data model through to deployment. The contract runs for one to three months from mid-November 2026, subject to contract award, with possible ongoing support after completion. The workload is heaviest at the start and then reduces to part-time. The work runs on Irish time (GMT), so we prefer freelancers based in the EU or the UK. Tasks - You will work on these tasks: • Build ArcGIS Pro Python toolboxes (arcpy) for office users. • Design geodatabase models with domains, attribute rules and relationship classes. • Configure ArcGIS Online layers, web maps and Field Maps forms with Arcade and offline map areas. • Automate the generation of PDF map packs and pre-filled forms. • Build and schedule integrations that sync records between ArcGIS and third-party back-office systems through REST APIs. Skills required ArcGIS Pro • Python toolboxes (.pyt) and script tools built with arcpy. • Layouts, map series and report templates. • Geodatabase design: domains, subtypes, attribute rules (Arcade), relationship classes and feature templates. • Publishing hosted feature layers and web maps to ArcGIS Online. • Repeatable data loads with Python geoprocessing or ModelBuilder. ArcGIS Online • Hosted feature layers, views, groups, sharing and user types. • Web maps in Map Viewer, including Arcade pop-ups and labels. • ArcGIS Field Maps: smart forms, Arcade calculated expressions and offline map areas. • ArcGIS Survey123 forms and report templates. • ArcGIS Dashboards. • ArcGIS Notebooks with scheduled tasks. REST API integration • ArcGIS API for Python and the ArcGIS REST API, including feature service queries and applyEdits. • Third-party REST APIs with token-based or OAuth authentication, ideally including third-party back-office systems such as ERP or finance platforms. • Mapping and syncing records between two systems in both directions, including incremental changes and matching keys. • Error handling, retries, logging and failure alerts for unattended jobs. • Scheduling jobs on a server or in ArcGIS Notebooks, with credentials stored securely. PDF automation • Exporting PDFs from ArcGIS Pro layouts and map series with arcpy.mp. • Filling PDF forms and document templates from data with Python libraries such as pypdf or ReportLab. • Merging maps, tables and forms into one document pack per job.
