Senior Full-Stack Developer – Node.js, TypeScript, MongoDB, React (Individual freelancers only)

Part-time contract, approximately 10–20 hrs/week to start, with potential for long-term work, 3–6 months minimum We operate a web-based business platform that helps organizations manage, track, and visualize operational data through dashboards and reporting tools. We are looking for an experienced full-stack developer to take ownership of an existing production codebase. This is not a greenfield project. You will be working directly with established backend and frontend repositories and will need to understand the current architecture before making safe production changes. Please apply only if you have strong, hands-on experience with this stack: * Backend: Node.js, TypeScript, Express * Database: MongoDB, Mongoose * Cloud: Google Cloud Run * Frontend: React 17, Redux, TypeScript * Background processing: Google Cloud Tasks * MongoDB transactions and sessions for ACID multi-document updates * Cached data aggregation patterns designed to avoid expensive live aggregation across millions of documents The initial project will involve updating existing data, related records, and system workflows while maintaining consistency and reliability across the platform. A larger upcoming project will integrate additional internal data sources into the Dashboard and include related frontend and UI/UX updates. Requirements * 6+ years of professional Node.js/TypeScript backend development experience * Strong MongoDB/Mongoose experience, including transactions, sessions, and aggregation * Experience working with React and Redux * Comfortable working in an established React 17 codebase * Experience debugging and safely modifying non-trivial production systems * Strong understanding of data consistency and transactional workflows * Ability to work independently with minimal oversight * Comfortable reviewing existing architecture before implementing changes * Experience with Google Cloud Platform is strongly preferred You should be comfortable: * Documenting technical concepts clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders * Communicating professionally through Zoom, Slack, and email * Managing your own timelines, priorities, and deliverables ### Additional Requirements * Must be available to work with consistent overlap during U.S. business hours and participate in scheduled meetings when required. * Strong spoken English comprehension is required. You must be able to quickly understand natural, fast-paced U.S. English during technical discussions and meetings. * This is a senior-level position, not a general MERN development role.
